I've never really understood why when you type in anything on google and it shows the size of any page you could open and yet when it says something like for example yahoo.com is 74k and my connection speed is 1.5 mbps it still can take as long as 10 seconds to open. Anyone know why this is and how to Maximize use of connection speed?

Hello,
I have been a Cable Internet subscriber for years, and have enjoyed the high speeds and ease of use. However, I am moving in a few months to an area in which Cable is not currently available. Therefore, DSL seems to be my only option for high speed internet.

Will I notice a significant difference with the two services? I've always heard and assumed that cable is significantly faster, is this true?

Also, there seem to be a lot of companies that provide DSL service. Is there significant differences between them (i.e. Verizon, DirecTV, Yahoo, etc)? Which would you reccommend based on speed, reliability, etc?

I think i deleted something so when i type it doesnt enter very fast or it stops half way through but the important thing is that anytime i get a mail saying that someone has added me on another website or i get a best answer and i want to go back to it thru the link it says it has to close down cuz internet explorer has encounted some problems but this never happened so many times like it now after i deleted some programs yesterday which im sure i didnt delete any internet explorer stuff please help and THANX
