my space-adding backgrounds?

okay, i just joined my space, but i haven't worked with html in years...can't remember any of it. give me the basics to insert backgrounds please! be detailed...hoping to get this done tonight.

there are alot of generators out there that you don't have to remember html anymore.

one that i use in particular and find very easy is:

i heard this on the radio that if you go to mygen.co.uk you can totally customise your blog/profile background text bla bla bla
