I'm leaning towards the Mac but I need some convincing. The Mac laptops seem to be more costly. I need help to justify the extra cost of a Mac....Why do I want one?

Ok here's the problemo: I wiped my hard drive and restored all the original factory software. A couple days later I left my eMachines T2895 on overnight and when I saw it the next morning it said:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\system32\hal.dll
Please re-install a copy of the above file.
So I downloaded a copy of this file to my laptop and burned it to a disk. Then I entered command prompt through the Restore CD (the one I used a few days before) and tried to copy this file from the CD to the hard drive (on the problem computer). I got the error message "Invalid drive specification." and was unsuccessful. Then I rebooted again and an odd clicking sound emitted from my computer during Memory Testing. After this the computer did nothing. It went to a blank screen with a little underscore blinking in the top left corner. Do you think my hard drive is broken? It's a 120 GB Ultra DMA, and I bought it in June of 2005.

Has anyone had trouble with their HP Pavilion Battery not charging....therefore always having to be plugged in? Kinda makes it not as portable.

Is there any good anti virus protection software? Nortons not any good and plus its week and thats what I have because someones been hacking into my accounts on myspace, etc so if there is anything I can do about this or any good antil virus protection sites i can download for free, thanks. :D

I wanted to complete start me PC over make it how I bought it. so i put windows XP cd in and start to install it, when it rebooted and went to the blue screen i choose to departition my hard drive but under the C:/ drive it said Start-up and I departitioned that too, i think that is what messed everything up. but yeah i departitioned that too, so now when i start my pc the Screen Says IBM(that is the company who makes it) and it never advances to any other screens and it doesn’t give me the opinion to hit F1 or F12 or anything.. Please help any input will be helpful.

I'm writing a story about kids who get stuck in the wilderness but i can't seem to find any good websites on Canadian Wilderness survival. I know I could just Look up wilderness survival, but if this story is going to work it needs to be canadian wilderness.
