Well, you could ping the IP of the site,
For example Google.

Go to Start, Click Run and type in CMD.EXE

A window with white text and black screen will pop up.
Type in: ping google.com
The IP address ( http://64.233.167.99/ ) will pop up. Type the number for whatever website you want to go to in your address bar and see if it works.

To Exit Command Prompt, type in EXIT and hit enter.

Of course, if you're not supposed to be going around the firewall, then don't.

Hope this helps!

Are you sure it is a firewall that is blocking you and not internet explorer's privacy settings or even some sort of privacy service or parental control service? Firewalls can block URLS and content, but they werent specifically designed for that, instead they block traffic from getting onto your computer and from rogue traffic grom getting out (in the event a malware application got on to your system and is running). Check again and make certain it is the firewall.

In Internet Explorer, have you checked Tools, Internet Options, Privacy? See what your setting is. You may have it too high - depending on what you are trying to get into.

If you have Norton, open it and click on Options. Look around carefully. There is an option for "threat categories" and you might have a list of blocked sites.
