I have a small hatchback with a 4 cylinder engine. I've noticed that my gas mileage is about 3-5 more miles to the gallon in winter compared to summer. There is no change in amount or type of driving between these seasons. Why do I get better mileage when the weather is cold?

Hi there, I'm hoping somebody from California would see this question and give me even a brief information. I'd really appreciate any help or advice anyone can give me. Pls., just serious answers.
I'm going to take the actual driving test sometime in Spring or April, and I'm wondering if there's someone out there who has taken the actual driving test from San Mateo DMV here in California. If so, how was it? Can you give me a brief information on what I should expect? Would they test me on the freeway? If so, which one? I am really getting very nervous everytime I think about it. I am very much hoping someone who has just taken the test there would see this and help me ease some of my worries out. Thanks so much in advance!

at what outdoor temperture should you consider removing the
car battery and storing inside for the night? I hear some people
in Alaska do that, if they don't have a block heater.

It already takes a few seconds of cranking to get the engine
started when it is ~10-20 F outside in the mornings. And they
are forcasting that the temps will dip below zero tonight and
Sunday night here in Kalamazoo, MI.

I got a flat tire and need to replace one. I was told by a mechanic that I needed to get the one from the same manufacture.
I have 215-R60/16 of continental tire but I thought that I can get anyone's as long as the size is same. Isn't it ?

What color are Running lihgts?
What color are Brake lights?
The answer to both of those questions is red.
The only difference being in the brightness.
What would be the effect of changing the running lights to another color? Perhaps green? I think that would dramatically cut down on rear end collisions due to only a subtle change in the difference from running lights and brake lights. The turn signal is Yellow, which makes sense, because it is a warning.

I just wanted to put this out there to see what other people thought?

Its a terribly exciting time for alternative car energy and many technologies are fighting it out for domination in the future. Some are very experimental while others are already available. The list is not small making the debate quite complicated. Which of the following would you bet your money on? And why? Or perhaps you have one not listed below:

Electric Hybrids & Car batteries
Plug-in Electric Hybrids
All Electric
Bio Fuels
Liquid Hydrogen
Hyrdogen Fuel Cells
Ultra-capacitors
Coal based synthetic or Coal-to-liquid

I've never been to North America but I've noticed that american cars seem to switch on their indicators (turn signals) whenever the headlights are on. Why is this? Isn't that just confusing as it looks like the car is turning? Also they don't seem to act as side markers 'coz some cars have them on the inside of the headlamp (not at the side). What are they for and when do they switch on (headlights, low beams only, parking lights, etc)? And how do the turn signals work at night? Never seen this in the UK or Europe! Thanks!

I was looking at a Peugeot 206 Convertable the other day and the shape sort of reminded me of the blue fibreglass 3-wheeled cars that used to be given to disabled people back in the '60s and '70s. The ones with handlebars instead of a steering wheel. They sounded like lawnmowers but you could get 60 out of them.
Then I realised they all seemed to disappear at once.
What happened to them?
