Open headers are disonnected from the muffler allowing for the most power for a free breathing system. also making a lot more roar!

Not legal in most states specially if the vehicle is less than 25 years old.

Headers replace the factory exhaust manifolds. "Open" meaning that the exhaust system from the header back have been removed. This doesn't mean more power! You need the right balance between the amount of air your engine is taking in and the amount of exhaust leaving. It will be load for sure!

Open Headers - Headers and no exhaust system after that

Headers - Exhaust headers hooked up to your engine then to a good exhaust system.

Never run a regular street legal car with open headers, you will burn your valves and pistons.

Headers are the exhaust manifold - the metal stiff that connects the exhaust pipe to the engine head. Open simply means that there is no exhaust pipe attached. NOT RECOMMENDED! Way too loud, will probably stall when trying to idle, no torque...engines need some back pressure in the exhaust pipe. The car may sound powerful, but your acceleration will be much slower. Open pipes, like on drag cars, start making power (instead of taking it away) at around 9000 rpm. Your engine would need to rev to at least 12,000 rpm before they became usable.

Headers bolt directly on to the engine block... exhaust are the pipes running to the end of your car from the headers.
