Hi there, I'm hoping somebody from California would see this question and give me even a brief information. I'd really appreciate any help or advice anyone can give me. Pls., just serious answers.
I'm going to take the actual driving test sometime in Spring or April, and I'm wondering if there's someone out there who has taken the actual driving test from San Mateo DMV here in California. If so, how was it? Can you give me a brief information on what I should expect? Would they test me on the freeway? If so, which one? I am really getting very nervous everytime I think about it. I am very much hoping someone who has just taken the test there would see this and help me ease some of my worries out. Thanks so much in advance!

CA tests are fairly standardised.. you will do one of two in CA a closed course (if yer place is big enuff to have a closed course or a road test) Highly unlikely any tester is nuts enough to take a newbie on the freeway.. it will be around town most likely..

Its short sweet and the biggest thing people mess up on is getting nervous... so just relax.. and do the do.. it isnt hard.. Now a motorcycle test is hard LOL.. half the bikes they make thes days wont even do that circle turning radius wise...

You will be expected to drive a certain area, make turns(USE SIGNALS MANDATORY), stop at lights, and perhapes parrallel park (that one screws up a lot of people more than anything)

and for CHRIST sakes.. put on your seat belt and DO NOT turn on the radio.. (your tester may not to want to wear a seat belt though.. dont argue whit him/her.. half of em wont because they wanna be able to get the hell outta the car incase you screw up)

each dmv examiner has their own route one examiner may take you on the freeway other may use side street another might have to drive on the coast highway also remmber that every 1st and 3rd Fridays the DMV are now closed on those Fridays) and it depends on the examiner if he or she will mark you off for not checking your mirrors
