My friends and I are driving to California in August. We wanted to take I-10 but heard that the checkpoints take about 3 hours to sit through and there are a lot of them, and we don't want to have to deal with cops. Can anyone tell me any information about checkpoints throughout the San Antonio to California route? I just don't want to add more time to the trip. Thanks for any help or links to this info. Also any alternate routes (other than I-10)?

Mine has to be when the car in front of me, blinds me, when the sun bounces off their back window. I guess I have sensitive eyes....but that really annoys me.

Gasoline in my area rose to $3.09 today.
How much are you paying?
Have you been driving less because of the rising cost??
We have been walking to get two or three items from the store. And If my kids want to go to a friends house we just walk over instead of taking the car. How about you?

I know how a turbo-charger works, how transmission works, how a car's engine and HEMI engine works, how clutches work, and how horsepower works! *Let me demonstrate my little knowledge to you, my dear audience or great fans:
When people talk about race cars or high-performance sports cars the topic of turbochargers usually comes up. They significantly boost and engine's HP, without increasing its weight, which makes turbos so popular! ( I also know about the wastegates, ceramic turbine blades and ball bearings...making the job better!)*
When I was small I once opened the hood of our car and wondered what the heck was going on in there...now I can be satisfied knowin basics, and perhaps a little too well, when it comes to my "baby"....bad or good? don't challenge me too much with your doubting questions, ok?

Has the missle crisis got anything to do with it?

I live in Sydney Australia and our petrol prices have yet again risen overnight.

Regular Unleaded has hit a price of $1.48 AUD per LITRE

Given that 1 US gallon equals 3.78541 Litres, we are paying $5.60 AUD per gallon. The current exchange rate as at July 7, makes the price of regular unleaded $4.18USD per gallon.

Premium Unleaded has hit $1.53 per LITRE.

Given that 1 US gallon equals 3.78541 Litres, we are paying $5.79 AUD per gallon. The current exchange rate as at July 7, makes the price of regular unleaded $4.32USD per gallon.

My car is a Ford Falcon FPV F6 Typhoon, which is a 4.0Litre, six cylinder, DOHC intercooled turbo, and it is a full size four door family car that weighs over 3000 pounds. It also runs on premium unleaded. The fuel capacity is approx 80 Litres (21 Gallons). It costs me on average $115AUD ($85USD) to fill the tank

What will happen next week?
