Ford. The two new Fords I ever owned had a MAJOR malfunction within 3-4 years. I will never own a Ford again.

Out of the following prestige
models of cars, which one would you choose and why?

Porsche, Mercedes Benz, BMW, Audi, Ferrari, Alfa Romeo and Lamorghini

Ive only been in a BMW and Mercedes (of that list). BMW 318i and 325i sports, and for Mercedes, been in a E320 and S280.

318i and 325i are overrated, they feel like any ordinary good 4 cylinder car. E320 was great. However, the S280 is pure luxury. It feels really smooth and if you go above 80km/h (50mph), it feels like youre floating in the air. I dunno what costs the cars are in your countries, but im from Australia, and the S280 (cause its S-class), its about $180,000 AUD here, so im a long way off affording that. E320 is about $90,000 AUD and BMW318i is about $50,000 AUD, and 325i sport is $65,000 AUD

I have had a couple of straight 6 engine jags in the past and their engines are pretty well indestructable. But I currently have a V8 XJR with the supercharger and it constantly develops niggling faults with the injectors that result in no real problems with its running but I keep finding I'm suddenly working out my fuel consumption in gallons to the mile!!! Do the normal V8 engines give problems generally or is it because it's supercharged and wants to annoy me?

I have got about £18k to spend on a car. I could go for any car providing I like it. I do not have kids, nor carry passengers or a large load at all, so I could go for anything.

What car would you go for if you could have any (within reason). I am thinking of either a Mazda RX-8 or a BMW 3-Series coupe.

Or there is a used Range Rover which satisfies my want for comfort, gadgets and road presence.

And I could go for a two-seater like a Nissan 350z or an Audi TT which would satisfy my need for speed.

I drive around New Mexico a lot. Mostly highways, but occasionally need 4 wheel drive to drive on Navajo reservations with dirt roads. My main concern is gas milage. Would a Suburu Outback or Forester be a good choice?

I live in UK and drive a Mercedes C220 CDi, I get 55mpg on freeway driving and 45mpg combined driving.
How does this compare with the American version of the same car?

I was recently 'over there' and found it amusing to see advertisers claiming 32mpg to be 'great milage', I know that your gas is a great deal cheaper than ours but if I was only getting 32mpg I would be ditching my car for a bicycle.
