If the oil is not changed at the correct intervals using a good quality 10w40 semi synth oil and a genuine filter then yes you will have problems with the timing chain.
Nissan say it is caused by acidic oil which causes the chain to wear very quickly.
When I first dealt with this problem I was shocked to find so much wear in a chain and almost every other day as a dealer we see it happen. I took the engine out the first time i replaced a chain but I now do them in place.
Your car being a 54 should be still under warranty unless you have covered more than 60k miles and even then I would ask your dealer to contact customer services for goodwill to replace your chain, as long as you can prove the services were carried out at the specific intervals ie service book and receipts.
Good luck

typically they need changing at about 45000 miles - and MAKE SURE you change it before it breaks, or you could cause major damage to your motor - bent valves etc
