The 2006 Bugatti Veyron is the most amazing production car ever built. There are several items that needs to be addressed in terms of safety.

Automation, in terms of computers and micro-devices, is the principle method of allowing high power, speed and direction to be handled by the driver easily.

The first is the reliability of the engine. Not a V-8 but a W-16. (like 2 V-8 engines, side by side). It develops just over 1000 horsepower using a dry sump lubrication system and 64 valves (4 per cylinder). The cams are computer controlled.

This power is fed through a computer controlled sequential shifting automatic transmission (originally developed for Formula 1 Racing machines).

Full-time all wheel drive which is also computer controlled.

The body shape is aerodynamic to make the vehicle hug the road.

Michelin created completely new tires to handle the Veyron's unique requirements. The brake system is also designed to handle the extremes.
