I would really like to impress him with my $12,900 aircraft. But that seems unlikely.

I hate the safety lessons before takeoff. Why do they spend time teaching you this when they have never tested planes to land on water in the first place. What a waste of money for life vest. Any opinions?

Just curious...
How much does a passenger Airbus A320 (around 160 seats) cost, and what is its fuel consumption. (how many liters/gallons of fuel does it burn per hour?)

I am very smart, not bragging, just providing info. I am in all Honors classes at my high school, have a 4.5-6 GPA and am really interested in pursuing the career of pilot. I am just wondering what to consider doing to better my chances of achieveing this goal.

Anyone know about, on average, how many flights a week and the average hours of those flights a cargo pilot flys? I know there are different ranks and things, but if anyone has any idea for any rank? Thanks!

I am a maintenace engineer on a type course for the Dash 8 100/200/300, with the associated Pratt engines (PW 120/121/120a ect) My background is CRJ's so I dont have a lot of experiance with the propeller systems. Anyway why when you start up do you put the propeller into full feather? This dosn't make any sense to me. It would make more sense to start the prop in disc mode, thus you don't load up the hubs, the gear box and other associated mechanisims. You also dont have to change the pitch while you are doing our runs, if your in full feather to change the pitch you have to go through the range of prop angle that produces thrust and gives you a potential break away situation. Anyone know why?

An aircraft gets its power from its engine(s) (Thrust). I just want to know how that engine produces electricity for the aircraft? I am very well aware of Gas Turbines mechanism and how they generate electricity through Generators at power stations; but don't understand how this would be in the case of an aircraft get engine cause aircraft engine's main duty is to provide thrust.........

The oil in the world is supposedly running out.Without fossil fuels to power everything from a lawnmower to a rocketship, what other alternatives are there for everyday transportation? Newer powerplants can use electric power in cars and other things.Somehow I can't see NASA creating an extension cord long enough to reach the moon. While hydrogen is a good theory, could it be safe enough for everyday uses? And could airplanes be adapted to handle an alternative fuel with the same amount of range and speed?

I have read the Reports on the Trident crash in the Late 50's along with several other reports of this type of aircraft design developing a high "sink rate" in certain flight modes. Is this still a problem with this type of design? Do the latest fly-by-wire computer controlled aircraft prevent this deadly,(from what I have read), almost unrecoverable situation? I also noted that these high sink rates occur almost always at altitude, and close the stall speed, although in some cases the aircraft was still climbing, before departing and entering a high sink rate, and crashing usally moments later. any comments welcome
