I live near an airport in an urban area. Mostly used by private jets and regular small airplanes, and occasionally larger jets (usually by pro sport teams). [no regular public flights]. I love to hear the jets land, and watching the planes. I have heard that there is some rule that you must have reached 1000 feet in altitude going in a STRAIGHT direction after liftoff, BEFORE you are allowed to make a TURN, over residential areas with many, many houses. Is this a law, or is there some law that requires anything like this? Many of the small planes turn immediately after lifting the runway, perhaps only 100 to 250 feet in the air, right over the top of my house, and they can be very loud. So I ask two questions. IS THERE A LAW about turning so low, and WHAT CAN I DO when this happens. (Yes I do have phone number of control tower).

I love planes, but don't want them on my roof! If they went straight, and got a little higher before turning, they would not be on my roof.

Everytime I go abroad I come across a shop, in the departures lounge, selling suitcases.

Who buys suitcases when they have already passed through customs and awaiting to board their flight?

Ok - I am scheduled to travel on this regional plane and I am really having anticipatory anxiety on how "closed in" I am going to feel in such a small plane. My question is...does is really feel that "closed in" on these smaller planes?? I have flown on larger planes but this will be my first flight on such a small plane?? I am really losing sleep about this and want to cancel...but I could lose my job.

Anyone who is fearful of flying ever flown in these jets and actually liked it?

Thanks everyone!!

Turnover at these Regionals is high, and not all are going to Major or Corporate. Seems they are getting out of the biz, when it becomes clear that major is no longer an option. Will you get out for that office job that pays twice as much for twice less effort? Or will you fly that CRJ forever? I'm curious

Once, in a discussion of aviation trivia, it was brought up that the pilots seat is on the left for a reason... it was said that it was linked to 'left turn tendency' but I had to leave before the explanation was given...anyone here know the connection?

I didn't know where to post this in "Travel" section or here since its primarily a safety aircraft issue(I think its paranoia though lol).

With all this airport safety/security these days I don't know what to do. I will be needing to travel over 6 hours and will need to take my insulin while I'm on the plane. Normally I use cold packs to keep my insulin cool but theyre all made out of gels which these days are no longer allowed and won't pass customs.

I cannot keep this in my checked luggage.
Cant use ice either.
What are my choices?
Please help.
