Ok - I am scheduled to travel on this regional plane and I am really having anticipatory anxiety on how "closed in" I am going to feel in such a small plane. My question is...does is really feel that "closed in" on these smaller planes?? I have flown on larger planes but this will be my first flight on such a small plane?? I am really losing sleep about this and want to cancel...but I could lose my job.

Anyone who is fearful of flying ever flown in these jets and actually liked it?

Thanks everyone!!

I have flown on the ERJ-135. They are pretty comfortable. The seating is 2 seats on one side of the aircraft and 1 seat on the other side. The airplanes now are made so it doesn't feel so "closed in". I don't think you should experience that. If you do feel closed in, just close your eyes and imagine yourself sitting on beach or a field with lots of open space around you. Just sit back and enjoy the flight. The crew I am sure is very experienced and will take good care of you. I recommend bringing some reading material and some packets of gum.

The Jungle Jets are not so small that most people feel overly cramped. If however, you are claustrophobic you may feel uncomfortable. An anti-anxiety prescription from your doctor may help. If time permits you might wish to take a "fearless flying" course.

The ERJ is a good airplane. I have ridden on them for many hours and find them OK. Good luck with your flight.

I live in a small town and most flights out of this area are on ERJs. They are a bit cramped compared to a 737 or A-320 but it's not all that bad. Most flights are short duration so you're not shut in that badly or for very long.

a/k/a the "Jungle Jets"...because they're made in Brazil. They're well built and very efficient airplanes. Less room when compared to a big Boeing or Airbus...but very roomy if you've spent much time in their turbo-prop predecessors.

Stop worrying and enjoy the ride!

If you are traveling alone request a seat on the left of the isle as it is a single seat, and you won't have to sit next to a stranger.

Just have a couple of shots of Saki before you get in the plane. Japanese kamikazi pilots did it before they took off in WWII and they turned out fine.
