This is way too broad of a question.
Generally, all development was jets, besides the b-36.
The development of mach 2 fighters started between 1947 and 1950 after the x-1 flight broke the sound barrier.
The first supersonic fighter, the f-100, entered service in 1953, and the first mach 2 fighter also flew in 1953 and by 1956 the f-4 phantom made its first flight.
After that point, no new jets were developed for at least 10 years, and ended up creating the f-14/15/16/18.

Yes I agree with all of you. The two most important things after the War on the civilian side were the widespread use of pressurization to fly above the weather and burn less fuel, and the jet engine to allow larger, faster planes.

I agree with the first guy, This question is way to broad. Are you talking military, or civilian?? The Military started working on Jet fighters. The civilian market started working on airliners that few higher and faster, and were more comfortable.

There were all kinds of new planes being designed and made. There were experimental planes with new radar, jets, motherships, and spyplanes. And I agree with eman who agrees with the first guy, that your question is too broad. I hope the next guy agrees with me.
