I am going to ride on a plane soon. I hate doing this because I always think something bad is going to happen. What are your thoughts?

Flight: What is one of mankind’s greatest achievements, has taken many changes, cosmetic and internal. It has transformed from the Wright brother’s plane at Kitty Hawk to today’s modern jet fighters and massive commercial airlines. These days, many engineers strive to increase efficiency in numerous ways, such as aerodynamics or weight, but did you know, that just by changing the angle of a planes airfoil, it is possible to drastically alter the amount of lift, and drag, produced by the airplane? Even though it may seem as easy as changing an angle, other factors like those previously mentioned, pressure, temperature, and air density, all have an effect on how much lift force is produced.
According to Sir Isaac Newton's third law of motion, for every action there is an equal, yet opposite reaction. When regarding a plane’s airfoil this it true, in the fact that while the front of the airfoil is lifted, the accelerated air is displaced in the opposite direction, causing lift.

I've just seen the weirdest turbo-prop land at Ottawa airport. It had a double row of wires leading from the front directly to the wing, then to the tail and round the other side in the same way. It looked pretty much like a square of wires framing the plane with little bits dangling off at regular intervals.
No it wasn't a UFO and no I'm not making it up! Any ideas?
