I have a friend who is assigning me power of attorney and paying me $250,000. Not a joke. Is there any way to avoid 100,000 dollars in taxes? I need to save as much of it as possible.

Why if I'm under the age of 18 and I had a car accident and I got a settlement over it i cant get my money until i'm 18 but if I need money before I turn 18 me and my mom have to go to court for my money and then the judge has to say it is okay.. I have no problem with it being in an account (like they are doing till im 18) but why is it if I put it in a savings account to where it can draw interest we have to pay taxes on that @ the end of the year.. We've never had to do that with all our other savings account so why should we have to on this one?

Groceries are a necessity of life. Why is food taxed? It seems that State governments only wish to harm the poor and low income.

On which types of income do US Citizen have to pay tax prepayments? Like the withholding on wages by the employer.
Are there some kind of "do-it-youself" prepayments, maybe on property income?
Are there any exempted types of income?

I'm wanting to have a home business and having nothing but fits on trying to figure out all the income tax stuff. The IRS website isn't really helping me much and I've contacted several people and keep getting different things, as I know I will here but seriously. My mom has a home business and she always has to pay in at tax time. If I had a home business I know I don't have to file up to a certain amount but how do you keep track of all that and claim it? Would anything be returned or would I have to pay in. I'm wanting a home job but not sure about all the tax stuff. Please help and thanks mucho!!!!

Was just wondering if anyone believes that someone could be auditted if they recieve 2 checks each week for payment under the table. One check is usually worth 200 and another usually worth 100. I pay no taxes on it but they do come in checks. Think this could be a problem come tax time. It is only $300 a week at most so it really isn't all that much money.
thanks

My dad died two years ago and he had put his home in my name before he died. Now 2 years later when I am doing a home equity loan I find there is a tax lien on it. The title was clear 6 months ago so this is fairly recent. The house is only in my name and this lien has been put on not only after the house was deeded to me but also 2 years after his death. How is this possible? Should I call the IRS about this or go to a tax lawyer first?

I've heard Sweden now taxes businesses, not on income so much as how much it pollutes. Also is there such a thing as progressive consumpion taxes as well. I believe are tax system should be geared towards consumption, pollution and idle wealth, not people's income and active business investment

2004 I filed an income tax with a company. 2 or 3 weeks later I recieved Bank One check from that company. I do not know back then if they have the right to issue me the income tax check.

Shockingly, a year later, I end up pay back to the IRS for almost 10K.

I want to make a fraud report on this company. Is it too late?

Nit.

I spoke to IRS and HSBC Bank where deposit was issured through, both say IRS dep. $$ into my friend's acct. on 3/27/07, and my 'friend' told me a month ago, the bank screwed up, three wks ago it was "The IRS kept it & applied to fiancee's back tax acct., last week she gave me a check on Tue. for 10% of total amt. she owes me, asking that I not cash it til Fri. of that wk. This is Tue. and IRS & HSBC tell me the refund was approved & tax refund was infact deposited into my 'friend's' acct. Is there any type of legal actions that I can pursue, if so, what? Where should one start in a matter of this nature? A lawyer, the D.A. of my County? What kind of legal matter (civil or criminal) does this fall under? I am looking to press the most, & hardest criminal charges against the two, as I feel this is larcency, theft, & down right deceat!!!
