Unfortunately my wife and I lost our twins this year. They were both born and later died the same day. Someone told me that you can claim them as dependants for the year... and without sounding insensitive, I was wondering if this was true. There are birth and death records, as well as social security #'s. Thanks for everyones time!

So.. Buying a house and i've never paid property taxes before. I'm curious, are property taxes generally paid before the tax period or after the tax period?

In other words, we pay taxes twice a year here in november and april. When you pay say on November 1st, are you paying for the period of April - November or the period of November - April? Or is this dependent on area? This is in CA if that matters.

I would like to know why the government do not allow tax deduction or tax credit for those paying child support, But on the other hand gives a child tax credit to the custiodal parent? I think child support was just a way to correct a government policy that went wrong. You promises theses single mothers theses government programs and now that the government can not afford it, lets deduct the standard of living for some else. That is probably the reason we are continuing to have the pro-life versus the pro-choice debate, because some appointed officals decided on a social policy that was taken out of the democratic processes. Also, why is child support gender base? Why do a judge makes the assumption that it is in the best interest of the child to be with the mother, where was this research perform to give this basis? Also, where in the constitution that gives the government the right to throw you in jail if you can not pay a debt, that is not a tax? Just my opinion.

I am in a forclosure situation:
Purchase Price: 275,000 (2004)
Refinanced in 2005 and took out a Heloc
Heloc: 100,000

My estimated price for selling is going to be 330,000. Will I have to pay any taxes on the potential sell of my house. If so are there any ways out ie: proving financial hardship.

Hi,
I am a Naturalized US Citizen planning on living abroad in my home coury for few years to be with my sick parents but not going to work there. During those years I will have no income except couple of thousand dollars in interest on my savings in US bank.

(1 ) Do I have to still file for IT returns in US ?

(2) Am I liable for taxes on the interest earned in US bank ?

(3) Is there a Yahoo or Google or other group where attorneys or accountants can give me proper legal advice on these & other related matters ?

Really appreciate any & all the help.

Thank You in Advance.

I have a kid and I make very little money. My mom pays for my rent (though she lives somewhere else). If I'm filing as an independent this year, do I include money from my mom as income? If I don't count these contributions, I'd be eligible for Medicaid. Also I work from home so the rent could be written off as a work expense.

I wanted to collect some expired medicines from some doctor's offices to take them along with me on medical missions to 3rd world countries. Sometimes saving them up, is a hassle for them. Can I say that they can take a tax deduction for donating the expired Rx meds and nonRx supplies instead of throwing them away?
