Ok so apparently you have to justify everything you write off as a business expense, right? So, how do they define it as being justified? Do they have some sort of standard to follow depending on the type of business your running?

What if you have stuff thats for business but also personal use? Like these headphones i bought - i bought them for myself but i also use them to test out the sound cards on laptops i sell (i sell computers over the internets)

Could i go as far as writing off my half-life 2game wich i bought for myself? I could say i use it to test out the video cards on the computers i sell, and i have actually done that so that i could take pics of a laptop running that game.

I'm a Canadian citizen, and I owned a pre-contruction condo for ~2yrs. I do not own any other property.

It was my intent for it to be my principle residence. I went for the house inspection and had my lawyer prepared all the necessary documents. After the inspection, I later realized it was not a place where I want to live in. It was very close to the final date for the ownership transfer (with the developer) and I sold the condos to another person.

My question is if I can treat this as my principle residence and not pay tax on the gain? If not, it this a "capital gain" of which 50% is taxable?

To write off stuff on your taxes? Like business expenses etc.? I sell stuff, and im planning on filing taxes this year. Id like to open an LLC but im a minor. Hows this going to work? If i dont file taxes will they tax my parents for my income? If i file taxes can i still writeoff business expenses? What about inventory costs? Someone told me i cant pay taxes only my parents. But my business just cant afford to be paying taxes for my parents tax bracket without making my parents money!

I work in a hotel in Colorado, and at this job I am currently making $8/hr. (Not great, believe me) Anyway, my brother works in a machine shop and a friend of me works for an internet company. They also make $8/hr each. Upon visiting the bank one day, I realize I usually pay between $20-$30 more on taxes a week then they do. We are all within a year or two of age, same marital status, same pretty much everything. We even work in the same city. Does anyone know why my taxes are so much higher? Is there a way I can get them to come down?

We come up with vehicles that run on alternative fuels such as hydrogen fuel cells?

Currently we pay for our highway improvements through gas taxes that we all pay as we purchase fuel at the pump.

I saw a GM commercial advertising a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle when it dawned on me that if we convert to alternative fuels that run longer or do not need to be fueled as often we will have,
A: Less revenue recieved to maintain our roads through taxation on fuels
B: No way of making up that lost revenue on alternative fuel sales
C: and Just as many vehicles causing wear and tear on the roads we drive on.

How do you propose we could make up the lost revenues?
