I need to determine the cost basis of one of my stocks for tax purposes and I'm finding it daunting to do this because there were so many reinvestment instances (the shares were in a trust fund under my father's control for most of their life.) Although I do have Fidelity statements, I do not have the original purchase receipt or any of the reinvestment receipts. Is there any way around this headache?

My husband and I got married at 18 & 21 and we made every bad financial choice you could make. I filed bankruptcy last year and we've been able to make a fresh start. Now I want to do things right and plan for our future. Our credit scores are up, we have most of our bills paid off and we're about to purchase our first home. He's in Iraq right now with the Army and will be home in October, my job while he's gone is to make a plan that we can stick to, and find ways to keep each other motivated to stay on track. Ok, so maybe more info than you needed, but here is my question.
If my husband is 25 now and we start investing $500 per month in an IRA or any other low risk option how much will that be in 40 years when he's 65? I've tried to do the math, but with interest and everything it's confusing and we're far from experts on the subject. We can put away $500 a month and still live comfortably. Or, our savings account through USAA earns 4.8% interest, should I stick with that? Any help?

Can anyone educate me on how certified financial planners earn their income? Do they get a commission? How can I be sure if a CFP is a "good" one? I know they have to have so many hours of education every year to keep up with the changes I'm sure, but why would they care if I lose my money or make money. In other words, what's in it for them? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks !

Hypothetically speaking, say I have $300,000 in my 401K and $200,000 in my Annuity Plan. How do I determine how much money I will receive monthly once I retire? I'm 65 years old.

Is there any bank out there that have programs for college students like us? A friend of mine mentioned Wells Fargo had something like it but I'm not sure... any suggestions?

So The current exchange rate is $34 Thai Baht for every US dollar. I bank with US Bank and they use Travelex for converting money and they only give me $30 dollars. I have a friend at BOA who says I can get $31 dollars for every US dollar. HOW can I get the actual exchange rate? Should I just transfer a little of it now and do the rest once I am in Bangkok next month? Or should I just take this loss and convert it all here.
Thanks for your help
