Here's the detaiils: Suzy Q is a good college student with a scholarship to a state school and well-meaning parents who set up a savings account for her while she was young. This account has around $20,000 in it, but it is currently in an account with a lousy rate. Originally, this account was intended to be put toward college, but Suzy miraculously hasn't needed to touch it because she maintains a full ride scholarship and works for her living expenses.

Suzy's parents have turned over the control of this account to her, but she is just beginning to learn about personal finance. What would you recommend Suzy do with her money until she learns enough to feel comfortable with making a long term decision?

I have 150,000 in low interest student loans (4%). I don't have any other debt. I have nothing saved for retirement. Just finished school and am now earning 130K which becomes 86K after taxes. My cost of living is low -I spend a total of 3000 in living expenses a month (includes mortgage).
How much should I pay towards my loan versus saving it? I think I can invest the money and earn more interest, but I feel funny about not paying off debt.
I'm single in my early thirties, so one day I'll have kids (hopefully) and will need to start saving for their college too!

Our 30-year-old son has been draining us dry, we've helped him all we can, and he has already sold everything he owns of any real value. Any ingenious ways to come up with the money he needs? The attorney's form said the filing fee was $274.00, but the attorney told our son it would cost $800 for Chapter 7.

I need a loan for at least $1000.00. This is an emergency loan, and i would need for it to be sent through western union. I know that this may be expensive since i live in the U.S. Virgin Islands, but i promise to pay you back with interest. For example, if you lend me 1200, i will pay you back 1500, within 15-20 months. Depending on amout, ect. But this would greatly be appriciated if you can get it to me by this evening, and i can pick it up, you can email or im me and we can discuss it. Please help me with these funds if you, or someone you know can help me. Anywhere from 1000 to 1400 would be appreciated. This loan is needed today, but if you can donate what ever to me, i would appriciate it, and pay you back if you choose to. But IF YOU CAN DONATE BUT NOT THE REQUESTED AMOUNT, PLEASE CONTACT ME, I WOULD APPRICIATE WHAT EVER CAN BE LOANED/GIVEN TO ME. :) But thank you anyways!

And do you have to pay interest when buying things with a debit card. Is it just like paying with cash but its with your card and only the cost of the purchase is taken from your account?

This is the oldest standing account that I have, but the interest rate and limit are the highest of any of my credit cards and I don't have the best history with it (since I've had it since my early 20s..). I'm going to pay the balance off this month, and I'd like to get rid of the card if I'm not going to use it, but will that destroy my credit rating? I've already spent a lot of time digging my way out of the credit score basement, and I don't want that work to go to waste. I now have a mortgage, car loan, have paid off student loans, etc. so will that offset any damage?

I have a loan at 6.6% interest and a savings at 4.5%....Is it beeter for me to make huge monthly payments on the loan to pay it off in 8 months or to save my money in a savings and make one lump sum payment to pay off the entire loan? Which would be faster? Why?

I have about 50K on my heloc at over 6% fixed for 15 years. I have been getting a lot of credit card offers and a recent one is a 2.9% on balance transfers for the life of the loan with a $75 max fee.

Does it make sense to pay off my heloc as much as my CC limit allows, probably close to payoff, so that I pay a 2.9% interest on it for life but lose the tax deduction on the heloc at >6%? Or should I just stick with my heloc since CC are sometime quite shady with their practices?

Thanks in advance...
