I have a personal check that I would really like to cash tomorrow. I know that since it is MLK day, banks won't be open.. but I'm wondering if there's anywhere else I can do it? Will check cashing services be closed because the banks aren't open?

And since I've never gone to a check cashing place before, are they okay to use? Do I need anything besides the check and my ID?

Had 3 husbands, finished a bankruptcy, started my own business but due to the holidays, tax season and a project that did not pay, I am in dire need of financial assistance to maintain my monthly household expenses. Can anyone suggest what I can do or where I can go for assistance?

It seems to me that even though I've been working harder with more hours, my disposible income is becoming tighter. Does this seem to be the trend for anyone else? What can we do about it?

Since the FDIC only insured up to $500,000, how would you distribute the money safely? Would you open 80 accounts across multiple banks? Please let me know because I plan on winning the lottery soon. Thanks.

Hi, just wondered if anyone had any information regarding the following, someone I know quite well - their only income is benefits which are put straight into their bank account. However, the bank keeps charging them and they are losing almost half of their money, it spiralled as one charge meant they couldnt repay that and the item which bounced, bla bla bla, basically, i am sure i read somewhere that it is illegal for the banks to take benefit money, can anyone point me in the right direction as to where i can find this information, i have looked, to no avail. Many thanks

Currently my job pays me just above minimum wage and even though I'm living with other people it's hard to keep my head above debt with the few bills I have. My job is so back breaking and underpayed that the goals I had for myself feel like they're slipping away. I wanted to get a Class A CDL and make a better pay check and also go to college but I've been doing the math and with bills to pay and very little reserve I don't think I'll reach $1,000,000 US dollars in the next 20 years.. hell I can't even keep $20 in my bank account right now. How do I reach my goal? Surely by working pay check to pay check I'll have nothing in the future so what can I do? Should I start my own business or learn about the stock market? Thank you for any advice.

My husband and I are trying to build a comfortable nest egg for the purchase of a home, vacation, major emergency, etc.

Right now, the bill are paid and there's a bit left over for lesiure money each month. We have been trying to put $500 aside (combined) each month. I feel like I have already cut everything we can to save, but if anyone has something to add, we appreciate it.
*Shop for only sale items, use coupons, buy store brands
*Decrease withholding so tax payments even out
*Take side jobs when possible
*Make coffee/tea instead of buying

Anything you can add is great....thank you

The company I work for froze our pension. I have a 401k with a decent company match. I add to my savings every week, but with nothing more being added to my retirement. I was thinking about reducing the amount I put into the savings and starting an IRA. Can you add to an IRA on a weekly basis? Is this the best way to supplement my retirement?

I came across a penny that, instead of the Lincoln memorial, has "one cent" printed on the back. It's in very good condition, but it's year is 1956, which makes me doubt it's worth much. I was just curious if it had any special value other than one cent, of course.

How do I go about getting my bills paid. I want to pay them, but I get one check a month and it only goes so far. With the late fees I am always behind. Example: I have a credit card. I only owed $90 on it. Now with the late fees I owe $150 on it. Please help!!!! No bad comments please.

Like 90% of Americans, I life Paycheck-To-Paycheck. Little or no savings and if an emergency expense come up, I'm devasted. I just received a $500 bonus from work and I want to it to change my life (far fetched, I know). But what would YOU do, have you DONE, with an extra $500?
