do these sites (like global test market, lightspeed survey permission research, american consumer opinion, etc.) really pay for the people who answer their surveys?

do you reccommend this to students like me to make extra cash? extra allowance for school?

what other survey sites that really pay would you reccommend? especially for people outside america? like countries in asia?

I'm leaving home (graduated!) and moving down to London. I have nooo experience with budgeting et al., what kind of things do I need to include in my budget?
I know the major ones, housing, phone, student loan repayments, etc., but what items may I have overlooked, those who know better than I?! :-)

Anyone know of any mortgage companies that give up to 5 times your salary?

I have a sole mortgage at the moment, have a partner but dont want a joint mortgage. we could easily afford the repayments on a mortgage of 5 times my salary but the lenders often only go to 3.5 times the salary.

Could I say that they lodge with me and put it down as additional income

I loaned my mother £20,000 which she invested before her death. A relative got hold of the documents by lying to my mother & her solicitor, then persuaded the bank to part with my money plus another £10K of my mother's. The bank had already had instructions from my mother's attorney not to pass on the money & had been told the relative had fraudulently obtained her documents. Still they went ahead.
Before handing over the money, the bank referred me to the Financial Services Ombudsman who refused to look at the case on the grounds that at that stage the bank hadn't actually done anything. Now that the money has been taken, the bank keeps ignoring correspondence & the Ombudsman is being downright difficult, totally misreading everything. My M.P. took up the case a few years back & has given up so won't press the case in the right quarters of government. I am a pensioner so cannot afford to take legal action without losing my home.
What do I do next?

Something about the President changing the rates or something and we should consolidate or reconsolidate before June 30? I knew I should have taken a class in Personal Finance, lol.

I'm taking out a loan to pay off all my creditors, but how should I go about it? I have been past due in all of my accounts for over 2 years, and all of it is unsecured debt. I owe between $9,000 and $19,000 depending on the reporting agency. Should I just pick up the phone and start negotiating with them? What terms should I settle for? I'm wary of debt consolidators, so should I go to a CPA if I want professional help? And, should I get professional help?

Whenever I read personal finance columns, the writer suggests investing in a 401(k) up to the company match AND, if you qualify, (which I do) opening a Roth IRA account.
Currently, I have a Roth 401(k) with contributions up to the maximum company match. Am I killing two birds with one stone, or is it better to have two separate accounts? I don't like the idea of being taxed later on investments AND interest in a traditional 401(k).

I know many banks check your credit history/score when you open accounts with them, but if you open a savings account does that effect in any way your credit score? For example, besides being illogical what would be the downside of opening 20 savings accounts? Obviously I dont need that many, but is there any downside to opening another?

I'm thinking about putting 40% down, or about $120K. Doing so would leave me with $50K in my NON-retirement brokerage account. I have a full time job where I continue to contriubte 16% to my 401k. So my question is......Is it unwise to put that much down? Should I keep more than $50K in my NON retirement account? If so, why?

I'm recently divorced. The ex quit-claimed the house, and the house was awarded to me under default dissoltion. I have been paying the mortgage, and all associated expenses for more than 18 months. It is an FHA loan.
I need to basically assume responsibility for the mortgage, and have his name removed from the loan. I have money in escrow from insurance for hurricane damage that I need to have paid out, to me in my name only, so that I can continue repairs. Right now, because he is listed as a borrower, the check would be issued in both names. He's long gone, and I won't be able to get him to sign a check.
Can I just present my paperwork, (the quit claim, the divorce decree, the bank statements, etc.) as proof that I've been solely responsible for the loan and assume the mortgage? Or, do I still need to pay the assumption fees, and qualify for the loan?
