I'm doing a persuasive speech to influence people to buy hybrid cars (it's for college speech class). I'm focusing on the financial benefits (i.e. savings on gas) but reports from consumer protection and Newsweek indicate that the savings on gas with a hybrid are not enough to consider buying one.

The research says that after maintanence costs, insurance, the extra premium to buy hybrids, and so forth that the savings on gas do not add up. It only says that you should buy if you are environmentally conscious and that's not what I'm focuing my speech on.

HELP.

Need sources and articles that say otherwise. Didn't the price of hybrids fall??

Okay Here's the problem I'm working with....
Jason invested 3,000 cash in his business
He purchased $600 in equipment in cash
He purchased $900 in equipment on credit
He paid $300 of the balance due
I keep coming up with the wrong answer I thought I knew how to solve the equation...Tried it that way--wrong answer....Tried again thinking I was doing it wrong and I was still wrong, tried again still wrong....I'm thinking maybe the problem isn't with me but with the answer sheet....Any help/explanation would be greatly appreciated.

I have recieved packages for the previous owner of my house on 4 occasions now. She worked for a major food company and these are being sent from vendors, to her name AND the company for which she works. The first few times I called DHL and UPS and was given the run around, they wanted tracking numbers and wasted too much of my time. Eventually I was told to leave them outside and they would retrive them. I just recieved another package today and I'm tired of calling DHL or UPS to have them fix this issue. Wouldn't those companies track it back to my house eventually and come for it? In other words, can I just skip calling them and wait for them to come pick it up on their own, and if they don't, after a month or so, can I just toss the package out? It really has become a waste of my time and a problem for me. Thank you.

They sure don't come from the average shareholder in Dubuque who holds 106 shares of whatever stock. They derive either from the corporate executives, from other directors, or from the large, institutional shareholders--let's call ALL of those sources 'insiders'. The guy in Dubuque with 106 shares is decidedly NOT an insider, and he doesn't really own much, either, except a certain set of rights. But when the going gets tough and his little company goes in the tank, he'll find that what he 'owns' isn't much in comparison with what, gee, shall I say it?, the bondholders own.

No problem my friend sign up we wont freeze your account, youre the people we respect and want as account holders. But dont expect the same good treatment if you start collecting money, thats for us to take from you.

Bear in mind also, that very often, if we reverse your payment to a seller, he or she will do the decent thing and refund it, offering you another way to pay if you still want the merchandise. It is standard practice for us to reverse the transaction intended back to you also so the seller loses the money and doesnt get a chance at getting payment from you another way, as a result you dont get your money back either (we get it) and the seller cant send you the goods cos he hasnt been paid. Stalemate for both parties. So all in all, its better to use bidpay or some other payment method.

What can we the public do about this terrible state of affairs ?

Its all down to strenth in union to defeat us. Given the answer to the above question regarding "Buyers" only which you may or may not have been aware of, all of you in the world, spread the word, tell all your friends, family, etc

I am living out side the US but am a US citizen. I need to open a non US bank account in S.E. Asia somewhere that allows me to use on line bill paying etc. Any ideas. I closed all US accounts due to Pfishing law suit for a minor amount of money. I just blew them off and I don't want people to be able to attach funds. On closing books of a/c's on 31/03/07, the following entry has been passed :
Electricity expenses dr. 500
To outstanding electricity expenses 500
( being outstanding elec. bills for the year 2006-07 provided for)

On 1/04/07, the above entry has been reversed :
outstanding elec. expenses Dr. 500
To elec. expenses a/c. 500
( being entry dated 31/03/07 reversed)

Further the following entry in respect of the above was passed on 30/05/07 when the elec. bill is actually paid on 30/05/07 :
Elec. expenses Dr. 500
To cash a/c. 500.
( being cash paid towards elec. bill )
Are the above entries correct? please explain in detail.
Also, provide with alternative treatment for the above transaction , if any......

My company has several of them. There is a very nice fellow that has pretty much moved into one of them. He doesn't seem to mind very much about trash being thrown on him several times a day. But I am concerned that one of these weeks he will over sleep and get hurt when the dumpster is emptied into the collection truck.
Plus I don't want to get sued for any injuries he may suffer from being compacted.

I bought a poster on Ebay on October 2; the Paypal payment cleared October 9. It is now November 1 and I have not received item. I wrote to the seller on the 29th of Oct. to see what the status of the poster is- there has been no reply. Estimated arrival time was 10-15 days.

off my car and then sent me a letter with the remaining balance of $4000 and change that I owe. Now, a few months later, I am getting a bill from some law firm saying that I owe over $7,000.
