Joe, Paul and Frank went out to dinner, the bill came to $30.00, each person put in $10.00. After the check was paid the owner gave them $5.00 because he knew Joe well. The gave the waitress a $2.00 tip, so they each got $1.00 back, so each person only put in $9.00 each. 3x9 = $27 +$2 = $29...SO WHERE DID THE DOLLAR GO!

ok instead of the equation you used try this 3x10=30-5=25+2=27 and each got a dollar back.

nice try ... wrong thinking

they paid the diner 30 - 5 = 25
they paid the waitress $2 [cheap buzzards!]

that's the 27 they paid. they each got 1 dollar back, thus total is 30 dollars accounted for and correct.
