I was a franchisee of a UK firm a number of years ago. Obviously when I was a franchisee I signed a franchisee agreement. I launched and terminated the franchise due to personal resons. Obviously the agreement contained a "do not compete" clause. I have managed to lose my copy of the agreement and the franchisor refuse to respond to requests to provide me with a copy. My question is therefore:

[a] how long can I be stopped from working in the same industry i.e. setting myself up in direct competition and possibly becoming a franchisor myself?

[b] is there a statutory maxmium none compete term? E.g. 5 years?

[c] can I force them to provide me a copy of the original agreement? E.g. using the data protection act or other legislation?

Please advise if you are familiar with UK law and please state whether or not your a solicitor or barrister!

Many thanks

Dan

If the highest bidding price is still lower than the reserved price at the end of auction, is the winning bidder obligated (forced) to buy at the reserved price..(since you are in a contract once you bid) I always thought this how it worked. Was this the original way at one time ? This is why i never bid on "reserved auctions"

I don't have to pay for school, or rent, or gas. But is $700 a month enough to buy alcohol, weed, cigarettes, groceries, clothes and other random stuff like that? What do you think?

Thanks for your wonderful tips on how to approach a 3rd interview. I interviewed 3 times with this company and was recently asked to provide references. The HR recruiter advised the reference check was complete and that he is waiting to get a decision from the hiring manager and he looks forward to talking to me further. I am a nervous wreck. It's been several years since I went through this process and don't know what to expect.

I eventually am interested in opening my own businesses, but while I am young would like to gain experience with a company that does what I want to do. I am often looking at either real estate or a business and think about what I could do to make improvements. At the same time, I enjoy the organic foods/cosmetics industries and may be interested in working with a company that aquires or builds these types of businesses. Are there any conglomerates/investment firms that deal specifically with these industries?

It only happens to our house. They found one with money so now they take and keep ALL the mail! When we go to the post office there, they don't do anything to help. So if there's something I can do to the mailman or some way of stopping this, please let me know.

My husband and I were both paid on Thursday, by direct deposit, and it did go through, and was reflected in the balance since yesterday during the day.

This morning, though, $1600 is unaccounted for. Our available balance went from almost $1700 to $31.54 overnight.

Other than about $300, all of the money we've used for spending cleared, and was reflected in the $1700 balance. So the lowest our balance SHOULD have been is about $1400.

We can't find a number to call to our bank, there is only one branch, and they are not open again until Monday morning.

I'm worried someone got the number and has been using it, but I don't know where they would have got it from.

What usually happens in these situations? Will most banks write it off, or are we pretty much screwed, trying to last 2 weeks on $31, unable to make rent or our car payments, not to mention any spending, daycare, gas, groceries, etc?

Help!!!

When I say "get by" I mean be able to have a functioning car (not a great one, but not a pinto either), rent an ordinary apartment room, and buy food. Basically, the basics any person would need. Ipods, cellphones, and other gadgets are unnecessary.

So what's the calculation in your state? 25-30-40 grand a year?
