I have $10,000 that I am looking to invest, but not for the substantially long term. I will not need to worry about retirement so anything that plans for that isn't what I am looking for. CD's seem like they are made for people entering more than 10k for it to be worth it. What would the pro's and con's be a Roth Ira?What are my other alternatives? And no I don't want to spent it!

I've never done it before. There was a stock broker who told me one time that there are stocks that can be bought for $100. Is that true? How much do you think it would generate?

I bought a $1000 I bond in 2005. I think the interest rate was something like 5%. What does that mean? Does it stay 5% or does it fluctuate ?

I'd love to find a source that lists ALL of stocks, and allows filtering for vol. , %gain and loss, etc.

...and free would be great.... = )

I was watching the history channel a couple months ago and they were talking about when he entered Jeruosolm(cant spell it just sound it out). They were quoting the bible word for word on Jesus at his most violent and maddest time when he saw people gambling. They sounded like people who invest in stocks everyone yelling their bids, then Jesus screamed and fliped the gambling table in anger. Stock investing is basically gambling so who thinks Jesus would be disappointed in stock investors.

...account? I'm talking about the kind of self-directed IRA that lets you buy real estate, make loans, etc., not one at a stockbroker, discount or otherwise, or at a mutual fund company. Pensco and Sunwest Trust are the only two custodians I know of that will handle this type of account. Anyone had experience with either of these, or one of their competitors? Any info and suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks,
Houyhnhnm

4options I know I can do... and is easy

CD at about 4-5%

Money Market 4-5%

Savings- not a investment

Bonds(bank)- no not enough return

Tax Liens Certificates- I am looking into trying this but first I have to research it and study it more.

Real estate- don't have the assets and money to rent a house out.

Stocks- Not enough info and dont know anybody to make educated decision

Real Estate Investment Trusts- maybe, got to look into that better

what should I invest in?

if you know some good info of how you buy tax Lien Certificates and you have a real good website to see the one's in any area or just have a few good tips for me that would be great.

thankyou

Suzie Orman thinks a Roth IRA is a great investment, but I dont know how to go about getting one, so here are some questions
Do I make monthy contributions of say $200 dollars to a Roth or do I have to go to the bank with $5000K in my hand and tell them I want a roth?
When can the funds from the Roth be withdrawn in 10 yrs, 50yrs?
What is the maximum amount of money that can be put into a Roth in a year?
Dont send me to a website please because I already read these and they are not clear. Thank you

If a person is a private trust deed investor and they want to sell off one of their notes to a real estate broker, do all of the back taxes have to be current? The note is a 1st trust deed on undeveloped land.
