I was watching the history channel a couple months ago and they were talking about when he entered Jeruosolm(cant spell it just sound it out). They were quoting the bible word for word on Jesus at his most violent and maddest time when he saw people gambling. They sounded like people who invest in stocks everyone yelling their bids, then Jesus screamed and fliped the gambling table in anger. Stock investing is basically gambling so who thinks Jesus would be disappointed in stock investors.

Interesting question. I think capitalism in General might be against Jesus' teaching. I can't say for sure, but it's based on the greed of human nature. Not that I dislike capitalism, I'm all for it, but Jesus might disagree with me. Investing is not necessarily the same as gambling though.

They aren't even close to the same, first of all they were the money changers referred to in the bible and they were conducting business in the temple. Secondly the stock market wasn't around, and the fact that you compare investing in legitimate companies with gambling shows you don't know what the market is. It would make as much sense to stop investing in the market as it would to not open up any more businesses. It's the same risk, it's the same returns. If you don't know what your doing, it's a gamble, same as it would be if you drove a car with out knowing how to do it, you would be gambling on your life.
If you read your bible you would know about the parable of the master that gave money to his servants to invest, and the one that made the most of his investments was rewarded while the one that buried his was punished.

There is risk in any business, not just stock trading. The existence of risk doesn't make it gambling.

The event where the tables were turned over refers to money changers, not gamblers. These guys were doing two things wrong. First, they were cheating people by overcharging them when they changed money, and second, they were doing it actually in the temple.

Chuck P. is correct.... the big beef was " in the temple!!" not "doing business"(..and NOTHING to do with gambling ).... so anyway, Jesus's Father ...who supposedly created us all...wanted us to do what? Stand around and hope someone would feed us...take care of our offspring ( be fruitful and multiply! )....how about if you worked in a field growng food? ...you shouldn't trade it ? ...if someone has a cart to take it to a better market...you shouldn't use it?... if I drill for oil to make that cart go farther...can you pay me for the oil?...if I work in the field for ten hours and you show up ( with three kids) six hours later ..do we get paid the same? I don't know what Jesus would answer....but, I know right from wrong...
