It's looking really good at $2.20 per share. This would be the first stock I ever purchased. I don't want to screw it up. Can someone really check into this for me and tell me why I should or shouldn't do it so I can learn from a professional what I need to do to research a stock?

I'm looking at investing in stock options and would find it very useful to be able to compar how the specific option has reacted to price changes in the underlying. I can't seem to find any source for this kind of information. Any suggestions?

I am looking into buying stocks, and I have narrowed it down to:

Coca Cola®
Exxon®
General Electric®
Pepsi® Cola
Proctor & Gamble®
Westinghouse®

What two would you buy and why? In what ways are they better than the others listed? Is there a risk, ifso, what are the risks?

As a class project, I am to invest in 5 securities for the semester and record their earnings and etc...With this, I am to compare those securities to the S&P 500. Since my prof. is a complete idiot, where can I find the numbers for the S&P 500? He indicated Baron's has the numbers, but when I looked, I was so confused and I couldn't find it. HELP!!

Say I buy 1000 shares of XYZ's for $20 per share on Nov. 9 2007. And the price drops to $10, so I choose to sell all the shares. So I lost $10,000. Can I deduct all $10,000 during tax time ? Or can I carry over to the next year until all is deducted ? How does it work ? What is the maximum tax deduction for stock loss?

thanks

Best meaning that you are not paying a lot to the broker like a discount brokerage place. Also places that have the smallest minimums. Also are there any stocks that look outstanding to you for quick growth soon?
