Ive been very confused lately with exchange rates as I live in UK. At the minute its a great time for sharedealers to invest in US stock market as the pound is very strong. However I cant seem to grasp what happens to my money when I invest on the NYSE in a japanese company such as Toyota. How will the us exchange rate against the yen affect my investment?

A simple case study would be really helpful.

Thanks

the link now. I read it a few weeks ago but I can't remember how I got to it. It would have included people from IG Index. NB it was about share trading and CFD's rather than Poker etc.

Thanks in advance

I would love to spend the next 5 yrs. or so just getting to know 3 or 2 companies so thoroughly that I could predict fairly accurately what direction I felt their stock was about to go.

I know, I know: there are thousands of analysts who attempt to do this and fail miserably. But isn't that because they stretch themselves too much and watch so many companies at once?

I read we can define illiquid stocks by its bid-ask spread. If its bid-ask spread is bigger than 5% from its price we can define it as illiquid stock. But, how do we define illiquid stocks by its trading volume? Or how we define illiquid stocks by its daily transactions?

Will the FDIC cover me for just the face value of the CD, or also the interest?
For example, with a $10,000 CD that yeilds 5% percent interest, if the bank goes under, will the FDIC coverage provide me with just $10,000 for the CD, or $10,500 for the CD plus interest?
