I know it is the 3rd friday of the month, but is it friday before the bell or friday after the bell when the option is considered "expired"

Ok so its the end of the quater for company XYZ (whatever it is) and i know it has performed very well this quarter so on the day of the company conference i believe the stock will go up.

I only plan on keeping this stock for about a week, so i will buy a Sept 07 call option, but would i make more money by buying the sept call or oct. 07 call. because the october call is more expensive but the bid price would probably go higher, because no one will buy the stock with only 4 or 5 days left on the option right? like even if the stock goes higher the bid price for the sept call wouldnt change much because the option will expire in a couple more days.

that may be confusing, but bottom line, i want a stock for the short term would it be better to buy the sept 07 call or Oct 07 call.

Ok let say i want to buy a stock option, and the stock currently at 43.50... I want to buy a call option on this stock and i think it will go up, so would it be smarter to buy it at the strike price 40.00 or 42.50....the break even price for the 40 is 43.80 and the break even price for the 42.5 is 44.30.

Now im only buying this stock for the short term, considering stock options expire this friday im only going to hang on to it for this week, im just confused with the fact of the "break even price" Because i want to buy it at the 42.5 stike because its a lot cheaper than the 40.0...wouldn't i make more if i buy it at 42.5? even though the break even pricce is higher?

Or what is the stock goes up to 44.00 even, would i still make money on the 42.5 strike, because the stock went up but it didnt reach its break even price

I'm interested in selling a covered put on Apple. I really expect their share price to stay the same or increase slightly in value by their next earnings report in October.

As much as I'm confident in Apple's success, could the strangest of circumstances drive Apple's stock down 20 to 30% even though the company's doing well?

If the stock drops 23% or more from its current price, my spread loses its full value.

Thanks for your help!

I recieved a $10 bill today that looks like a fake but its not. It has the line in the bill and it passed the marker test. It looks like when it was cut it wasn't lined up correctly. There is to much room at the bottom and not enough at the top. Could someone let me know how I could find out if this bill is worth more than $10? Thanks

Can someone suggest a method of finding out the acutal stocks (number or dollar amount) I own through the different mutual funds I own.
I know I own JNJ in at least three or four different mutul funds that I invest in. I just want to know how much of JNJ do I actually own. It would be helpful to know this before I consider buying any JNJ stock directly.

Do any of the portfolio analysis utilities have the ability to “go inside” my mutual funds and summarize the company and geographic holdings across all of my funds so that if I entered the dollar value and symbol of all of my funds, it would return my actual portfolio.
Thank You

I might be getting some money from a relative's estate. I was considering paying off all my debt but a friend said to look at investing it somehow and using the earned money to pay down debt even though it takes longer, obviously. What does the wisdom of Yahoo Answers think?

I am not saying that this is a bad way to invest. This is actually the way I have decided to invest after reading loads about Warren Buffet etc.

But I have been wondering how guys like buffet managed to get the money to invest in new companies if he didnt sell? And how did he earn a living.

I am asking this because I have been buying shares for a while now and I am expecting to hold them for a long time. But when do I actually earn an income?

Dividends are a slow way to get a good income and I would have to invest hundreds of thousands of pounds to get a decent level of divident income.
