Can someone suggest a method of finding out the acutal stocks (number or dollar amount) I own through the different mutual funds I own.
I know I own JNJ in at least three or four different mutul funds that I invest in. I just want to know how much of JNJ do I actually own. It would be helpful to know this before I consider buying any JNJ stock directly.

Do any of the portfolio analysis utilities have the ability to “go inside” my mutual funds and summarize the company and geographic holdings across all of my funds so that if I entered the dollar value and symbol of all of my funds, it would return my actual portfolio.
Thank You

Check out Portfolio X-Ray on morningstar.com. It will allow you to input all funds you own and tell you where you are invested.

Unless you buy shares of JNJ, you do not actually own any JNJ. You do own shares in whatever mutual funds you have. The fund owns the shares of JNJ.
Theorhetically if one of your funds owned 100 shares of JNJ ane the fund had 500,000 shares outstanding, you portion of that would be about 0.0002 shares and still you would have no control of those shares.
View you potential investment in JNJ independent of what your mutual funs hold. The funds can change postion without notice in most circumstances according to the prospectus and I doubt many if any publish their entire portfolios daily.
