Does it really make a difference if a S&L has a 20% ratio or 1%? If a bank/S&L has zero or negative equity they can still stay open for business as long as their depositors don't withdraw all their funds, right??
Please help me!! Im not so smart and need a simple explanation.

apparently Nationwide sold (rather than fowarding) the info to a company who contacted me and wants 33% to release the rest of the funds.. It's about 9,000 so they get 3,000 (about) I get 6,000. Can I report this or go around them and get the full amount of my deseased husband's stock holdings.

Can anyone suggest a mutual fund with a very low minimum investment and won't kill me in fees if I make small monthly deposits into it?.... or would an ETF be a better idea?

I'm debating whether to mix my own educated blend of mutual funds from the choices offered, or to instead put my 401k money into a target-retirement date fund managed by Barclays (BGI).

Is Barclays a reputable company with a good track record?

Should I trust them with a big chunk of the money I'm setting aside for retirement?

Thanks for any insight you can give!

From what I've read recently, they are saying that the Telecom Sector is undervalued and a great sector to invest into right now. I was looking at IYZ( iShares Dow Jones US Telecom) and it looks like a good ETF to get into. For anyone that knows about ETF's and sectors, what do you guys think? Thank you

I usually pay the ASK price when i buy (Long Call) stock options. But today i placed an order for the bid price on the option (it was at 4 in the morning were no spread prices so the only price open at that time was the lowest price). To my surprise the order went through AT the BID price-the lowest price. Is this a good thing? It also expires in December 2007.

We've got a 6 month old daughter and we want to set up some savings for her to use when it comes time to go to college. Ideally it would be an account we could continually add into over time that would produce significant growth over the next 18 years. However, we also want control over the account (meaning if she doesn't go to college or if she gets a full scholarship we can be in control of what happens to it next). At this time we'd have about $3K to put in. Any suggestions???

I can't put a picture up but, it's from the Netherlands.

On the one side there's a queen(I think) she looks kind of old and around her head it say Juliana Koningin Der Nederlanden

The other side looks like some lion on his back paws holding a sword and something else. On top of that there's a crown. Under the lion it say Nederland.

The year is 1971 and it says 1 G on it.

How much is it worth? Thanks!

Nigerians have been identified as buying secondhand computers to get passwords and Internet banking access. They are also big in the scam where they have a person who writes to you to ask you whether you will give your banking details to wash a multi-million dollar payment that was embezzled from the Nigerian or Ghanaian governments.
