From what I've read recently, they are saying that the Telecom Sector is undervalued and a great sector to invest into right now. I was looking at IYZ( iShares Dow Jones US Telecom) and it looks like a good ETF to get into. For anyone that knows about ETF's and sectors, what do you guys think? Thank you

First off any sectors should be a small part of your portfolio around 10% of your portfolio. The main part should be in the major asset classes : total stock market, us large cap and small cap (i favor a value tilt), developed international and emerging international . Use vanguard etfs as much as possble due to their lower costs.

after you've done that I would say the fundamental factors in the world economy (growth of china and india, shortage of basic materials and energy) make the following worth considering: vanguard energy, vanguard materials, energy infrastructure (iez), emerging asia (gmf), int'l reit (rwx) and commodities (djp) . Again keep these positions small relative to your overall portfolio and don't trade these short term these should be held for at least a year.

Ahh, don't listen to that first guy! I think it's a great question. ETF's are a great way to play the market without the heavy volatility of individual stocks. I like the Vanguard Groups energy ETF..ticker VDE. Check it out at Vanguard.com. Great way to play the energy sector as it still has room for more growth. It's up almost 13% for the year and has all the big guys...Exxon, Valero, Devon. The great thing about this ETF is that it's not just a oil pure play...there are drillers, natural gas guys as well as refiners. Good luck man.

Smart. You're looking for trading information from people you don't know, whose qualifications you can't verify & who's motives are also unknown.

BTW: The answer to your question is;
If they are recognized as "undervalued" they may or may not go up or down. If the market is in a half moon spin it may not also. During the sunrise is the best time to make your decision. Live long and prosper (not on the prosper part, if you continue on this road).

All the ETFs right now with any volume are overbought. IYZ is a good one, but I'd wait to buy and keep an eye on the macd-stochastics. It'd be a better buy later.
