Okay, So I've got about $9000 that's been sitting in my Starone.org credit union earning 5%. Well I've just finished reading the Wealthy Barber , Richest Man in Babylon & Dave Ramsey books. They all seem to say I should open a Mutual Fund with a good portfolio manager. Can someone tell me where I can start researching this. Better yet. Can someone just list a few examples of Mutual funds I can throw some of the money in now while I research things as I go?

Any other suggestions welcome. But I'm getting tired of researching things on my own right now only getting more lost.

In a sense what is the best way to put together a convertible debt document, meaning how many years, what percentage interest, how much a discount should be given at conversion, what other benefits should be included for the investor and the company? I would like to raise $750,000 with this. I don't think I would need another around of funding but just to be sure, I would want the investor to have the best of both worlds.

Your thoughts.

When a company changes their ticker symbol I can not find the Message Board for that company any more (under Yahoo Finance). As an example: Halozyme Inc. changed ticker symbol from HTI to HALO. When I click on HALO's message board I am informed that there is no message board for this company. Back when they were HTI the message board was alive and well.

Thanks for help in advance,

Walter

What do corporations usually look for when scouting for a takeover target? I'm told a low debt ratio is an important factor when considering a takeover target since the aquired company usually will need to take on substantially more debt. What other factors do companies look out for when identifying takeover targets?

Ok, so my husband is a "get rich quick" scheme kinda guy, yes, embarassing, i know. So he has his mind made up that his life is going to include buying propertry by means of winning it at a tax lien auction. I just doin't think it's as simple as all that. i mean, the list out shows property for anywhere bewteen 200 dollars up to the thousands, but i know it's just not as simple as that. can someone please tell me what it's like to go to an auction and what realistic expectations one should actually have of tax lien property.

I went to a seminar last week and I am a little wary about this. The guy spent the entire time building up value to take a three day course for $199 and to purchase software that is $39.99 per month. He also said that there are more courses to take. Do people actually make money from stocks with this program? I believe that they had some plants in the audience to get people to sign up. Is this the real deal or are they just trying to make money from people taking classes. I give the guy credit, he at least admitted that they make their money off of the other courses after you take the three day course.

I just finished reading John Bogle's latest book, and he makes a very compelling case for index funds outperforming managed mutual funds over time. Does anybody agree with him? If you're a fan of actively managed funds, tell me why, before I go reset my 401(k) elections!
