I know that the Roth is only for incomes under 150,000.
I thought there was an income cap on a traditional IRA but I'm not sure.
What is the advantage of contributing to a traditional if I earn over 150,000?
Is there a better way to be investing dollars at that point?

I want to give my nephew's son something for his birthday which he won't spend, use, break or waste for a bit. I was planning to buy Premium Bonds for him, but have just discovered you can only buy them for people under 16. He has a computer and all the electronic goodies he wants. Since we're talking confidentially here, he comes from a home of instant gratification, there is no concept of saving, planning or providing for the future. I want to buy him something which introduces the glamour of compound interest ! A sum of money he can watch grow, add to if he wants, but cannot touch without his Dad's permission or till he's 18. Or even 21. His Dad is a responsible parent but his Mum has custody.

Any ideas ?

I have the time and the skill but not the $s to get started.
Maybe someone all ready has a large account and could lend me some.
Or,
Maybe someone has the $s but not the knowledge and we could work together..
Or,
Any other thoughts on getting this loan?

I have ample feedback in ebay etc and currency exchange forums which I can show as a good start to earning others trust, all personal details / login details would be included.
I would consider it a loan (compounded until doubled - then refunded) and would only be trading the 2 safe pairs (400:1 10%) no yen or gbp.
I'm well studied and have been running demos all year so I know what I'm doing.

How can a little guy with small means make big profits in the stock market? After pondering on the toilet I have considered that considering uncertainties, time, transaction costs it is not feasible for the tiny absolute returns an investor makes. And this is not taking taxes into account!

My theory is basically economies of scale. Transaction costs and cost of living are assumed to be constant so even with a small rate of return the absolute return is significant.

Am I missing something?

Win = 10% return (99%) probability
OR
Use some of the winnings on this near certainty for:
Win = 30% return (45%) probability
Win = 3% return (55%) probability

OR LOSS
>= $5000 depending on scenario. Although (.01)(.55) is a rather small number.

Is this an investment or a gamble??

Say on a sport bet. Is this gambling or an investment????

ANYONE WATCHING THIS? sneaky sneaky who is behind this?

NAV was "delisted"2 months ago and is now trading on pink sheets-
HMM. NAVZ = NAVISTAR = International trucks*
*
Supplier of The thousands of new "UP" armored tractor trailers being shipped to IRAQ, Afganistan, Balkins , Saudia Arabia, Kuwait, oh OH OH I could go on and on. BUT the point is "THEY"
convienantly decided not to issue their 4 Q earnings and so
therefore NYSE decided to "DELIST" them
OH how unfourtuanate for Navistar and secret (?) investers Now they can do what they want without any interferance. Oh by the way, Navistar just got the bid for The Marines "New" tactical Light fighting vehicle wow, am I the only one to see this?
Of course "they" will come and kill me in my sleep. ??

They just got Orders for New Hybrid School busses down in florida
and a motor coach contract-
Is "Pink Sheets" reliable?
Who is watching NAVZ? It cannot be the SEC!

Because my accrued benefit amount is less than $20,000 I have been offered a lump sum distribution. How secure is the future of a major and financially stable company's pension plan in this day and age? I am in my 30s so will not be eligible for monthly pension payout until 2038. Are there tax implications and what is the best option for the funds if I do take a distribution today?

I'm bombed with tons of emails from Louis Navellier, Investors Place and Motley Fool etc. everyday talking about how accurate their stock picks are and it costs about $300-$500 for a year membership to find out what their stock picks are. I have some money I can invest and can be a little more risky with. Does anyone know if these guys are worth the money? Does anyone know if their stock picks are accurate?
