It is my life savings. I am 49 years old. I want few things in return, a matching donation, help to invest the funds at a really high rate of return, and a job working for the charity. I am particularly interested in a small island in the Philippines where there are a HUGE percentage of poor people. REALLY POOR!!!

This month a few funds in my portfolio lost a significant percentage of their value in just one day (for instance reacx). The reason supposedly was a cap gain or cap loss. Could anyone explain me, what that means? Are those gains or losses announced ahead of time, and would it be better to sell ahead of time?

My employer doesn not offer 401K. I also have student loan debt and credit cards that I'm working on payingn down. Should I pay those off before worrying about investing? Is an IRA the best choice for me? I am almost 30 and feel I should start worrying about my retirement.

To all you financial experts out there.
How long would you say the Euro will stay at its present price compared to the US Dollar; and would you say it's likely to go up or down in the coming months or years?
In other words, would you advise investers keeping it; selling it, or buying it?
