I received an invitation in the mail to be a "VIP guest" to hear Donald's story from his daughter Ivanka and 4 self made experts that will discuss wealth creating secrets and strategies. And receive a copy of "TRUMP - THnk LIke a Billionare". Says the conference will talk about real estate investing, slashing capital gains, protecting assets, etc. It is free to attend, but is it worth going? I am interested in buying investment property. Will I be a captive audience for them to pitch me buying something or will I get immediate value?

What would be the best use of $100,000?

We are considering buying a house and paying cash- owning it outright instead of a mortgage. (House prices in my area are quite low)

This seems like a good idea because we will never have to worry about a mortgage, which is a long commitment.

We no nothing about investing, and we wonder if there is a better way to use the money- perhaps invest it so that it turns us a profit- albeit the profit we made would have to be big enough to offset the mortgage payment we would then be making.

Any advice?
thank you.

I invest in mutual funds with a group I will leave anonymous. I just started. I know that mutual funds are like stocks and any other investment there's a chance you can lose money. However, is it possible the representatives can be storing away any profits that you did make into their account and making it look like you lost money from the investment? If so, I might just go to saving money from the bear market point of view. Savings bonds, Certificate of Deposits, savings account, and any other sure profit investments rather than these unpredictable and shady investments strategies. What do you think? Make money the old fashioned way and just save it?

My father had invested Rs 2 lakh in RBI 8% tax saving bonds (obtained through Oriental Bank of Commerce) on individual capacity with my mother as nominee. He was drawing half yearly interest from it. Recently he expired.
Now I would like to know weather my mother can continue to receive the interest payment with the Bond transferred in her name . The bond has not yet matured.

I already bought silver and gold coins (no numismatic value just the metal) 9 months ago, and it has gone up. I dont feel gold and silver are still a buy (i could be wrong) but platinum does not seem to have gone up too much in the last 9 months. I was thinking of buying. Do you think platinum is a good buy now? AND why? Also, do you think silver or gold are still good buys? WHY?
