Can professional investors tell me how to choose a mutual fund, I have never bought one before!
1. Where should I start?
2. What should I look for?
3. Is beta or standard deviation important?

Thanks!

It seems like that would have raised the market despite worries about future inflation. Although worries about future inflation and thus future rate increases could be present, it seems as if a pause from hikes should not cause the market to drop suddenly. Is there something I missed? Did Bernanke hint at future hikes in his speech or something?

There is a repo market for the OTR and all the olds. And, let's assume, a new issue has been announced, which is now trading in w.i. Is there a repo market for it? To put a repo or a reverse repo, the collateral needs to be "delivered", and, since the new issue can only be "delivered" after the issuance, how is this possible?

I'm interested in researching publicly-traded companies whose philosophy and products encourages freedom. Any resources I could use?

There are thousands of public companies and I dread having to reinvent the wheel by researching every single one of them if there already is a white paper, website or index already out there for this purpose.

Any suggestions?

I don't have much to invest, maybe $500.00, but I would like to know the best way to invest this money to get a maximum amount. I plan on leaving it long term or reinvesting it and the interest for atleast 10 years but possible 20 or 30. Would it be a better option to just add this amount to my preexisting IRA or get a CD, or is there another way to go?
