I bleached my hair several months ago, and have since let my natural hair grow in without dying it. About 3/4 of the bottom is blonde, with a good 4 inches of dark brown roots. I've consistently used conditioners for damaged hair and deep conditioners so that the bleached part of my hair isn't in terrible condition. In fact, it feels just about the same as the unbleached portion of my hair, and I've been able to reduce the amount of damage on it. I'd like to go to a uniform color, preferably an auburn brown (slightly redder than my natural color). I've never been to a salon to get a color, I've always dyed my hair myself and I really don't want to drop upwards of $75 just to get my hair colored. Can someone suggest how I could go about pulling off this dye job without getting unwanted (see also: 2 drastically different shades, or color fading in a matter of weeks) results? I don't mind a subtle shade difference - I expect that, but I don't want as stark a difference as what I have now.
