I am doing a photo shoot soon with an expecting mother. I need some knowledge on how to set up my photo shoot for good lighting. I need to go inexpensive. My thoughts were to purchase a black and white sheet (black of course for a black background and white for a white background), drape the sheet on the wall. Use some of my husband’s mechanic lights and position them on ladders and or tables, her husband will be there to assist me and to be in the shoot. I was going to start the shoot at 7:00p.m. I need some suggestions of what I can do to improve this shoot. Inexpensive. I will be editing these picture afterwards in Photoshop.

And I dont know what else to bring. I want it funky and crazy..my friend is bringing in cotton balls, feathers, yarn and things like that..

Another friend used her hands...and brought in her mouse...how could that work..light cant go through them??

but anyway
my point is i need a list of things that are possibilities for bringing in

cause we get to use the dark room, enlarger, all the chemicals, the whole 9 yards haha...

I have a fully manual SLR camera that I've had for years but have only recently started taking night pictures with flash but my first set came back with half the picture dark as if the shutter speed was too slow. What is the minimum shutter speed I can use when taking a flash picture? Any other hints for flash/night photography?

I'm a very involved member of the Horsetopia Forum. We need to find a place that sells custom calendars (custom calendars meaning we choose the photos). The problem is that there are a ton of places where you can place a bulk order and they doing the printing, bill you and then ship the calendars to whatever single address you ask for. We didn't want to have to front the money for calendars, especially not knowing how many would sell. We also didn't want to have to individually ship all the calendars, collect payment, etc.

So, because of all that, last year we chose www.CafePress.com. They are good because anyone can go on and order however many they want and Cafepress will print the order individually, take the payment and ship it. But, CafePress is very expensive and the expensive and their quality is low. I don't think their main competitor, Zazzle.com, is any better.

What I'm looking for is an idea of what other options are out there besides CafePress. Thanks for any help!

On flickr I saw someone using a lomo ring flash with their canon 300D. So could I use it with my canon rebel xt? or would it mess up the camera.

I just bought a used wein WP-500B flash meter and I just dont get it. I have a page of instructions that tell me, basically, that I place the meter right in front of the subject, fire the strobe and viola I have an f-stop number. It works as it came from a reputable local camera shop and it gives me a f/number when I fire the flash.

My real question here is how do I figure out the speed of the shutter from this meter? Or can I? I searched photo.net and only found people who already know the basics of metering this way asking fine tuning questions.

Please help.

This is one thread I found and it shows a pic of the meter and how it works. Again I would like to know how to match shutter speed to all of this.

I want very badly to photograph a male in the nude. When I say in the nude, I mean that I as the photographer will be nude and he the model will be fully dressed. This has always been a desire of mine and I've been a photgrapher for 10 years now. How would I go about setting something like this up?
