I am doing a photo shoot soon with an expecting mother. I need some knowledge on how to set up my photo shoot for good lighting. I need to go inexpensive. My thoughts were to purchase a black and white sheet (black of course for a black background and white for a white background), drape the sheet on the wall. Use some of my husband’s mechanic lights and position them on ladders and or tables, her husband will be there to assist me and to be in the shoot. I was going to start the shoot at 7:00p.m. I need some suggestions of what I can do to improve this shoot. Inexpensive. I will be editing these picture afterwards in Photoshop.

No matter what you do and how you try to light it, it almost certainly is going to look like a sheet on the wall. You would have better luck with a black fleece blanket using no light on it at all, just let it fall to black. Even a dark blue one will work if it's not lit, it will look black in the picture. Also, you don't have to worry about shadows on a dark background.

I highly agree with planning the shoot to use natural light, supplemented by good flash technique and reflectors rather than hubby's mechanic lights. Go outside and use nature for your backdrop. If your subject wants some nude shots, you can move indoors and use window lighting and reflectors. Lace curtains in the background look good for a pregnant belly shot. This would have to be done earlier in the day than 7pm, though.

Good luck!

ok, you need to ask her in a humorous cocky way if she is conscious the place are those infants now... permit's see... Jason Voorhees, the Unabomber, Larry chook ring any bells??? If she needs a proof, permit her understand that Anne Geddes has made a ton of money photographing infants in creepy costumes. Ask her: what do you think of grew to alter into of the adverse, defenseless infants she humiliated and exploited on her thank you to the precise? Does being photographed with a flowerpot on your head and rose petals up your as s reason lasting psychological injury? I’m thinking specific. permit’s face it, if photographic evidence exists which you have been as quickly as dressed as much as appear as if a pollinating bee, possibility is you’d have some deep emotions of resentment, too. those infants are going to choose a protracted time of scientific look after being compelled into awkward costumes and positions and then spending their childhoods reliving those painful days every time mom meets somebody new and breaks out the proofs. it is all because of the fact of that pedophile priestess Anne Geddes...

If you are using those lights, you need filters of some kind over them. I have no idea where photographers get that stuff..... DON'T put sheets over the lights because they will catch on fire.

Without professional lighting, your best bet is to take the pics during the afternoon, and make the most of outdoor light.

One suggestion might be to use something to filter the light, some like panty hose, this will give you more of a softer lighting rather then harsh. Also if you reflect the light off of black poster board, it'll be reflected more softly too.

good luck :)

Don't put direct harsh lights...they are usually soft shots...

You're not ready to shoot anything because you have no vision of what you want the images to look like.
