Aren’t all artists who paint realistic or representational art really voyeurs? Aren’t we really watchers and studiers and reflectors of life itself? How often is what you record on canvas an impartial view? How much of it reflects your own emotional state of mind? Better yet, can you always know where the deviding line is?

Here is the sixth painting in a series I’ve called the Zoom Series because I’ve imaged these as what you would see as an artist through the lens of a camera. The only problem with these, from a technical point of view, is that these canvases are very narrow (12x36) and details have to be squeezed into very small surface areas.

I am having trouble. Does the rope represent violence? Or is it much deeper than that? What do you think? I do not know much about the Mexican Revolution. Do you see any symbols?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

a little like my writers, and even photography block.
Ive a dulce and a double dulce with half begun, and almost finished landscapes.
I keep replacing my light bulbs but I just can't get back to them it seems so all in vain, even though I thank G-D for my abilities.
For so many years I could hardly draw, much less consider painting ,yet almost all of a sudden 3 years perhaps 4 ago I began and strangers, friends, all said the same how good they were,at first this gave me boost.
But now I feel it has no real purpose.

I have a painting that was given to my sister from an Aunt who passed away several years ago. It looks like an original, on canvass. It's of a little girl folding her hands that are by a flower and a bird is sitting on the stems. If anyone can help me or know of someone who can that would be great! Thanks

I have two paintings, they are acrylic on wood. one the back they say Al Lemons or A.L. lenoms
the one has an address
1719 S Gildin
Denver, Colo

The one painting looks to be of the Holocaust (in my opinion) the other is of a man playing a banjo. We have had them for the past 15 years, they were donated by the estate of a rich gentelment in Kitchener Ontario.

If anyone has any information on this may I would love to hear from you. I have always wondered what the story behind these images are and would love to fine out.

Here is the are a few images:

When I'm painting on canvas, what do you add to acrylic right out of the bottle to thin it and slow its drying time? I love painting with them, but it dries so quickly.

So I just finished a still life in oil paints and I'm very happy with the results. The problem is that this is my first time using oil paints, and I didn't do much research beforehand. I just jumped right in, and painted an already prepared canvas with oil paints (winton brand) straight from the tube. I didn't mix the paints with anything. I did a lot of layering of colors (i.e. a dark layer for shadows, and then layering lighter colors on top). So my first question is, how long will it take to dry so that I can at least transport the painting from one place to another (on a plane- I'm thinking I'll have to carry it on). Second question is, will there be problems with my painting since I failed to mix it with turpentine or whatever people commonly use? Thanks so much!

Hi,
I am Currently using Testor's Enamels in a poorly ventilated room, which are apparently highly toxic with long exposure, can cause cancer and birth defects. Wondering if there are any options/solutions to my problem (aside from putting ventilation in the room, there's a different problem that comes with that).

The model paints need to withstand scratching (shouldn't be easily ruined).

Thanks

I am making paintings (fine art) that can be painted and lifted like large decals. I have used 6 mil shipping plastic, This works great, but is hell to format and non-permanent. I need to identify and locate a more stable substitute. (Clear plastic sheeting; large solid sheets that watersoluble paint will peel off of.)

I would think the same thing tupperware is made of (polypropylene), but cannot find it in flat clear sheets. Does anyone know what the clear painters pallettes are made of (melamine?) and if it is sold in sheets to the public?

I have been trying to put a finger on this for over 2 years--any help or leads out there?

thanx

I finished it two nights ago and am not sure myself what I was trying to say here. Would you care to interpret it? Seriously, perhaps you can help me understand what I was trying to say here. All i know is it is one of the more serious things I've done in a long time. Here is the link;

I have to paint a colour circle, but the problem is, I only have yellow, blue, and purple. (and various other colours which I don't use) I have no red.

So, how do I turn purple into red? I've asked elsewhere, and was told to add yellow, and I got a brown-orangy colour, which was good for one of the squares, but I need good red.
