Often, I hear that I should hang a painting at eye-level. But, how high IS eye-level? If you take eye-level for someone to be the distance from their eyes to the ground, then it seems an easy distance to measure. However, not all people are the same height. Eye-level for someone 6'01" (184.5 cm) will be different than for someone 5'04" (162.6 cm). So, I ask again, how high IS eye-level? Is there a generic height that is considered universally to be eye-level?

Also, what part of the painting should be eye-level? The top-third? The middle? The bottom third? Something else?

I visited the MET (The Metropolitan Museum of Art New York)
and I took a picture of this beautiful painting, but I forgot to write down the Title and the Artist's name.

Description: Golden Yellow cloth for background. Black hair women sitting in the middle with very loose clothing; golden yellow.
She has her right hnd on her waist. Sitting on a Cube, very antique looking cube. Lepard skin under the cube. under the skin, its a carpet with very native american tribe looking patterns, onthe left corner, The lady is holding a goldern, bronze Plate, and on HER left hand shes holding a Knife with beautiful designs. She is very light skined, brings out her Black hair.
Very Realistic.
on enormous canvas. perhaps oil.

Thanks.. I hope i had enough details :]

I looked at this painting by picasso called "The Dream" -
http://www.overstockart.com/pipadr.html
I think it is beautiful but does anyone know who is the woman in the painting?
Picasso painted oil paintings of a lot of women like Dora Maar and others which are amazing, but I always wondered about the Dream...
See this gallery for some really nice ones:

I sell my work on Ebay (The Animal in Me Gallery) and thru those who commission me. I have also worked in the field as a muralist for 30 years- I would love some sites or procedure sug. to get a printing company to make and sell my work commercially as posters or limited prints. Is it similar to advancing my work to Galleries? Are there any companies recc.? THANKS!!!

I would so love to start using an airbrush to learn some about airbrushing before I head off to college, I am hopefully going to attend OTC (Ohio Technical College) and take the Auto-body with custom paint and graphics course.

Does anyone have any personal opinions on airbrushes and where would be a good place to paint with an airbrush?
