I'm a photographer and an industrial design student. I have no inspiration. If you can come up with a cool idea for an art project I will make it and send you a photo or a copy!

I'm a graphic designer in the Midwest (Indiana) and wondered where fellow graphic designers where located. What has been your experiences? Where are you located? What do you enjoy/hate about this field??

I'm coming up on my 2nd year with my first professional position as a G.D. and don't see opportunities for advancement where I'm at. What's the best advice? Should I just stick it out for another year to have more experience or is 2 years enough to advance in terms of title & salary? Does anyone know about what to expect as your salary as a graphic designer with a company (no freelance estimates please).

Thanks!

This is the deal. I am a graphic designer, however, it's not my profession, I do it as a hobby. My real passion is actually fashion design. Recently I created a CD demo cover and back side for my boyfriend, who is an aspiring music artist. In the credits section I gave credit to everyone involved in the project, except me. It didn't bother me at first, but once I received the printed copies, I actually got very upset. He tells me not to worry because he will give me the credit should anyone ask who made the layout, and he does. But that doesn't help, it still bothers me every second and I start thinking all these things, and can't even enjoy being happy with him about this accomplishment because I keep thiking I should've put my name on the credits. I know this probably sounds bad, but I want to know your opinion. Am I being selfish?

The last question, according to gf, suggestede that she believed real life was a different colour 30 years ago. She said just now in a rather emphatic, annoyed toine "I do *not* believe this!'.
She was asking whether people from the 70s noticed the difference between real life colours and TV colours. Also, are modern TV colours the same as real life, or do our brains compensate?

I have to think of a theme to explore...

Any suggestions? It can be basically ANYTHING...be creative!

I'm thinking of investigating it through digital photography, so a theme that could fit in with that would be great!!!!!

Maybe an issue? ...some examples include holywood, 7 deadly sins, light etc...

Any replies will be greatly appreaciated! Thankyou so much!

A few days ago, I went into a local coffee shop for lunch when I noticed they used their walls as a mini gallery. It was quite a nice space. After lunch I spoke with the owner who said they had some space available in May. Right now I have the kind of portfolio of a black plastic cover with plastic sleeves with the black acid free paper to allow two photos per page.

The problem is that this is the bare minimum and I am worried that she will not want to show my work because my work is presented poorly. I really cannot spend a lot of money mounting everything on foam core boards and matting them (although I do want to). Does anyone have any suggestions and/or useful experiences to share? I would appreciate the help since this is the first time I am meeting with someone about possibly showing my work. Thanks in advance.

.. I was asked to design a memorial to be place in on of Dahab squares, Sinai!
It should tell of peace and it should harmonize with both the place and the time!

What would you suggest for that?

For an art project on 'fear' I'm doing a modern-day variation of medieval art where heaven and hell is represented - in my paintings, rather than saints, celebrities and the like will wear the haloes, while images of starvation and aids will be in hell. I'm sorry if any Christian people think this is blaspemous or whatever, but that's really not the point I'm making - the idea of the project is to highlight the mindset of many people nowadays and how shallow the ideals of much of the world has become while real problems await the apparently condemned millions.

Anyway, what I need from anybody who knows this well are some medieval artists and pieces that show the traditional murals featuring heaven, hell, purgatory, earth, or all of them, in any way that might be useful to me. It would be especailly great if I can look at it on the Internet, look at it in a book, or especially if they are in Northern England so I can visit them. Many many thanks and eternal gratitude in advance!

I saw this poster in psychology class, but I do not know its name or artist. It has two children in the middle with invisible limbs. There are burning books, a crooked picture of the leaning tower of piza, a hot air baloon outside, a ship with water and other crazy things. What you see first reveals your inner desires (see the burning books, yearn for knowledge---see the crooked picture, yearn for order). I have looked everywhere but cannot find it! If anyone knows what I'm talking about I would be very appreciative.

In a celtic goods mag I recieved through the mail a few years ago, (I cant remember which one but I know it wasnt gryphons moon but a similar one) where they sell celtic jewelry, art, clothing such as capes, skirts, home decor, etc. I saw this art poster which displayed a baby with grass for hair, fairies around sitting in front of a wterfall or something with strange looking mystical creatures around. The title of it had "Dream" in the name but thats all I remember. I have googled this thing for months with no luck. Anyone remember this? I am desperate to find this art poster.

I'm painting a picture of a dog and a cat and a bunch of oranges (I know it sounds stupid but its gonna be cool I promise) anyway id like the background to be one solid color and the oranges to be really bright and I want them to stand out.

The problem is I think black is the best way to stand the oranges out BUT the cat is black and I don't want him to disappear into the background.

So what other color would make orange really stand out?
