A friend is wanting to get a tatoo. Here's my best description: black outlined triangle. Inside the triangle the background is what appears to be a flag. There are 5 horizontal stripes on the flag. Three are green and two are yellow. They go in order G Y G Y G. In the center of the "flag" is a 5-pointed star, pointing downward.

I don't have ANY idea what these mean.

I may be WRONG, but I think the green and yellow stripes are some sort of flag.

I NEED SOME SERIOUS HELP HERE!!!

I need a picture of a painting (or the title) it is one of those illusional pictures where you can see different things. It is a sunset, a face, and a helicopter. That is all I really know but will greatly appreciate any help, thanks in advance

When I first started painting seriously during the mid-80s I started doing, for some weird reason, surreal works. I suppose I was borrowing from artists who had come before and hadn’t found my own real creative ‘voice.’ You'll see obvious influences from other artists here.

The photos are of rather poor quality because they are scanned from faded photos of long gone paintings. But I thought you might like to see how this old fart started his painting career.

In the last photo that is me (and a girlfriend at the time). It is actually a pen and ink drawn on canvas. Pick on these all you want. I’ve got a healthy ego and realize they are somewhat amateur.

Who is your favorite artist?

I love the work of Salvador Dali and Tim Burton. Anything that is dark and twisted. That gives you a chill. Any other artists similar to these? Anything beautiful.

Or do you know of a particular painting or artist from Deviant Art who has this dark beautiful sense?

Georgia O'Keefe! How pretty. I'm going to try to imitate that.

I shot a quick example of how someone could take a suitable photo for eBay last night. I didn't want to move stuff around and so I got a "fair" result. I decided that I couldn't let it stand and say, "Just take my word for it," so I moved some stuff out of my way to gain the lighting angle that I prefer and recommended to our asker.

In fact, once you are on the first photo, just click on the other cream pitcher in my photostream and you can swap quickly.

As I said under the photo, it's not quite catalog material yet, but it's an improvement. It's just a point and shoot camera, too, like anyone might already own. The only special equipment needed is a tripod. Since you would be using the self-timer and a light-weight point and shoot camera, you don't even need to spend $100 and up on a tripod. Just a $25-50 tripod would be fine.

The painting, reminiscent of monastery icon artwork, depicts a saintly mutt deep in reflection, adorned with a glowing halo, sacred bone, and holy garb.

I took loads of pics at an outdoor sports event, using a panasonic Dslr, most were ok but 6 came out blue! (They are otherwise good photos) Why did this happen? I was in the same place all the time and did nothing differently, they are in the middle of other 'normal' pics. Can anyone tell me if they can be rescued?

I don't want to go to college any more.

I'm sick of the crap.

Money spent, classes dropped, bullshit grades...

I want to make art, but that sounds like a hit or miss sort of thing..... we all know it.

if your art sucks, that means no money....

i do have a -day job- but with my spare time, i really want to make paintings for enjoyment and sale.

How do I do this the professional way?

How do I make money to support myself, and my family, with my art work??

I don't mean which picture(color) cathes your attention most, i mean if you look at thses pictures for a minute, which girl would you most likely remeber if you see her randomly on the street.

I have 3 painting by an artist that signs his name as H. Schmid. The H stands for Hans. Two of the paintings were done in 1949 the third one doesn’t have a date. They are landscape paintings. How can I find out more on H. Schmid? I’ve gone to antique dealer and the artist is listed in some databases. He appears to have been born in 1903 in Germany. Some paintings have been sold at auction according to the antique dealer I went to, but without any dollar amounts listed. But there is no other information about the artist in the databases. The paintings were my grandparents, then my mothers, and now mine. I’ve done some research at my library and still can’t find out anything other than when he was born.

When a highlight is blown (all detail lost) it is my understanding that the detail that was there is lost forever. My girlfriend however insists that she can bring the detail back from a blown highlight by pulling curves in PS. Personally, it's my opinion that she thinks she can because she can make the highlight look normal. Can I get a ruling on this? Is it possible to retrieve details in a blown highlight?

I understand warm and cool colors, complementary, primary, secondary, and teritiary colors, but what is the rule when painting? Does every color you use need to have the complementry? Does every color need to be in every tone and value?

my moms friend was painting my house wall and left the bucket of full water which was used to wash the paint brush roller. Now the bucket is full of dirty paint water with the brush (in my washroom!) and its NEAR my room. Im afriad it might cause health problems so i wanna ask if i should cover it up with a bag or something cause i told my mom to move it out of the washroom but she said her friends going to use it soon so dont touch it....... and got all mad. So yeah my question is should i cover the bucket and the brush loaded with dirty paint water with a bag? thx

Extra details: the probem is my mom is weird and doesnt want me to move the brush with the bucket of water in the garage because she said the brush roller needs to be in water 24/7 and wont let me touch it.

I can honestly say this wasn’t the best, being tired, stressed, unprepared, and under pressure I flopped. But that’s no excuse, well any who, I know there not great, but I tired to take some snaps of my cousin(no she doesn’t want to be a model in anyway it was just to help me, so no offensive overweight comments) so I can be exposed to different shapes and sized people, but I feel I could have done better. Maybe I can salvage a photo, I tried my hardest at the time, so let me know and no these photos are 100% virgin and untouched, though I do plan to do minor fixes and blemish removals…….. Well let me know and remember, constructive comments

I just posted a picture of a black hole on Flickr to see how they would rate its degree of "interestingness." I mean, it's a black hole, for crying out loud! As soon as I posted it, Flickr's algorithm decided that it was my 124th most interesting photo. This makes a picture of a black hole more interesting than 9 of my other pictures. Okay, I admit that most of the others are not very interesting, as they were taken for a reunion of sorts and they are just typical snapshots of the event, but a black hole...

The black hole to nowhere is more interesting than the road to nowhere.

Black Hole #124: http://www.flickr.com/photos/samfeinstein/1012467852/

Road into the woods #133:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/samfeinstein/891897649/

How does Flickr decide what it "interesting?"

Where did they come up with an interesting word like "interestingness?"

You gotta love Flickr, though. It's run by real people, it seems.
