I enjoy creating paintings from my own photgraphs that I take. I have discovered if I print the photo out on regular paper I can trace it with a heat transfer pen and then iron it on to a canvas. I then paint in the lines like it is a coloring book. Is this considered cheating since I traced it? Or is it okay since I am using all my own artwork and images?

I am designing 100% original shirts, some with designs and some just words and I need ideas for uplifting or thought-provoking Christian sayings or scripture that you think would make good shirts.
Thanks and God bless!

I really get inspired by other artists work and do my own renditions of some of their peices....
IF I were to sell one with my signature (NOT THEIRS as i know that would be illegal) and it being clearly stated that it is my art inspired by that artist, is that legal????

Well, he has finished this weird work of art.

The weird and sometimes cool effects came from using different technics on the canvas. Brushes, sponges, q-tips, pallet knives, an ink blotter and a turkey baster were all used. All were done over a highly textured and gesso-laden canvas. All without drips (at least not drips on purpose) or splatters.

Not bad for a three year old chimp? Or perhaps by a three year pre-schooler?

Seriously, for my fellow artists, do you find that it helps to take a little creative vacation from the art you normally do? Does it help re-charge your creative batteries or change your perspectives? After doing some very serious, perhaps emotionally or mentally draining, art does a little ‘play time art’ help now and then?

I am a beginner and I have just purchased a Canon Powershot A710 IS. I would like to be able to use its features, as well as keep up or at least understand what you all say when you mention technical stuff like aperture, shutter, macro, exposure, etc.

I've been drawing and been fond of the arts since I was old enough to hold a crayon. Now I'm attending art school in to become a character artist in the game industry. Since games are gearing towards realism now knowing the human anatomy is very important.

I've taken a life drawing class but I feel like didn't get enough feed back from my professor. I still don't get sighting and measuring and I have a vague idea of proportions.

This is a very competitive industry. I've even looked up sites like www.conceptart.org and looked at people demo reels for character artist. Looking at those works I've come to realize that my work is really bellow par.

Some days I can't even bring myself to draw or model because of the fear of the things being out of proportion. Some days I feel like I've feel like I've fallen out of love with art because my work isn't good enough. Because of this at times I feel like I've wasted my life perusing art.

What should I do?

She is a character that is developing in my mind. She is nameless at the moment. Though she's been around for thousands of years, and has white hair (Silver really) she has the appearence of maybe a 23 year old woman. She is involved in some magic using water. A good pic gets you the points (leave a link, I mean).

I've heard numerous debates about this online, and I have formulated my own opinions, but I am still shaky on the details. When I have time over this summer break, I will read about each (major) religion.

But I am curious about everyone else's opinions.....what do you believe? Are you atheist? Are you agnostic? Undecided? Feel free to answer.

Please make plausible answers, and explain your viewpoints please.

At carnivals, boardwalks and fairs, there are typically these photo opportunity 'things', where you stick your head in a hole in the back, and have your photo taken from the front; the front of the board is usually some kind of 'headless' cartoon caricature, such as a muscle-bound strongman on the beach, standing next to a bikini-clad cartoon 'hottie'.

What are these called, exactly, and would anyone be able to assist me in finding something like this online?? I have to put a couple of them together, for my company's picnic in September, and I am seeking inspiration...
