Visual Arts - January 2007

I'm in high school and I'm taking a computer graphic class. I've always thought I would be good at making things like, movie posters, and/or advertisement displays things like that. Is there a certain job that does one of those things, or a job that encompasses those things and things like that? And what type of college classes would I have to take to do said job?

I recently went to art show. One of exhibit had huge panoramic canvas pictures of landscape photos (taken with a digital camera). Up close the pictures looked like oil paintings, but they were actually digital photos printed on this canvas as art. These pictures were nice & huge. There were panoramic style and were about 30" x 48" (2.5 ft x 4 ft). The canvas was attached to a wooden stretcher frame for direct hanging on a wall w/o need for a frame. I was wondering if anyone knew any more on this subject. Is there a special name for this process of digital photography onto canvas art? What kind of printer is used? Where do you get the pictures developed? What else is needed for this process? Starting costs? Where can I go for additional information on this subject?

I've noticed this on most of the photo glossies, and even in competitions the judges seem to favour this type of sky (which is usually done in photoshop). Why is that? It doesnt look natural to me, it looks sinister. You can still get dramatic scenes without this nuclear touch.

I don't expect to crop someones face thats the size of a pea and print it out on a posterboard, but would I be able to crop someone's face lets say about the size of a nickle or dime and make a nice 4x6 or 5x7 print?. Please help!

If so, what was your experience?
was it tedious and boring to sit there 4 a long period of time?
what was the pay per hr.?
DId it make you feel great, as after you finished felt less inhibited and even more proud of your body~like a different type of confidence normally we don't get to express/develop due to be covered all the time?

He never finished high school, he's working in super market,
he can draw good like YU GI OH and stuff like that, I think he
