A Starving artist sales is a public scam....no there are no real artist involved...the paintings are sofa paintings mass produced on a press on canvas...then paint is applied by a machine and or an idiot if a real person is involved...Most starving artist paintings are cataloged by the signature name....that;s not a real artist...it's just a way of filing it away for quick access...Rent the old film "Murphy's Romance" with James Garner and Sally Fields! They expose the scam for what it is in the film...best explanation I have ever found...Sad thing is that there are so many people that believe they are real...Your paying for an over glorified jigsaw puzzle that was never cut up...just printed on canvas instead. If you want to support a real starving artist find a local gallery where live..or a local high school art show..just really support the arts....don't follow the scam..It actually hurts the art community but seems to make some idiot overseas millions because they figure than can fool the American consumer and they have...You notice in there advertising they never use a real artist name..That's the first clue...

They are "mass produced paintings." The shows travel all over the USA under the title "Starving Artists."

Contact your local art schools or colleges/universities with art departments. They have shows of student and faculty work. Student work will be inexpensive compared to normal gallery prices and you'd be supporting a local artist.

I wouldn't call it a scam. It is exactly as advertised, oil paintings for $69. That is exactly what they are. Are they mass produced? Sure, But they are quality and for someone on a budget that can't afford a "real" painting they are a good alternative.
