is it simply a matter of ingratiating yourself with the elite of the art world?
it seems clear you can become famous with very little real substance.
conversely, are there wonderful artists out there with no recognition simply because they havent sucked up to the right people.

if the whole basis for who gets to the top is fake anyway, why dont we have a tv programme called ART IDOL where contestants get to make works of art, which get voted on, and the crappest most spurious works of art get to be publicly destroyed!

if everything else is getting dummed down, why should art be immune?
after all its 98% ego and self image anyway, and always has been.
lets turn them all into celebrities the humble little darlings!

I've been asked to estimate to cost of painting a mural for a collegues freelance client. The size is 5' x 10' I have painted 3 other murals, but the cost has been low because they were favors for various school sites. I want to charge something fair to me and to the client, but I don't want to get turned down because I'm too expensive. Can you help? I also have a B.A. in Art so I know what I'm doing.

With the domain name we chosen, Li-KingCo or would
Li-KingLLC be a better choice? We will be selling Authentic Chinese Jewelry, clothing and other Chinese products made in China. We're also considering selling Yixing Teapots and Teapot, cup sets as well as Chinese loose leaf tea. I want our name to reflect this with our business of what we're selling. I hope you can give us some suggestions. Also, how do we start developing a website front page for what we're selling? We need help in this area as this is all new to us. First of all, please only reply if you have an understanding and solid recommendation - many times I post questions and get useless answers! (i.e. up to you, maybe, who knows!)

Background: I am a 'serious amateur'! Most of my pictures are scenery, landscapes, buildings, construction sites, sunsets, and events.

1) Would you recommend buying Body only or camera with 18-55mm lens?

2) I would like to have Zoom capabilities and Wide Angle - can this effectively be purchased in one lens? i.e. 18-200mm

3) Would you recommend Tamron or other lenses over Canon? I see they have a 18-200mm that is a wide - zoom. Or would it be better to purchase a Canon Wide AND Canon Telephoto?

Just trying to find the best solution to minimize costs and get the most bang for my buck with quality equipment. I would rather have 2 lenses than 3 at this point.

Any recommendation, suggestions, or resources to check out would be GREATLY appreciated!

The frame is for Quilting or Sewing & should stand. Also be able to change sz. from 1 to 2 square yards.There should be a way to tighten the fabric when it's set up.It's made of lightweight wood, or plastic.
